News reaching Dominica News Online (DNO) indicates that a fatal accident occurred this morning in an area known as Les Pointe, which is located between Mahaut and Massacre.
According to our sources, the accident which occurred at around 9 am, involved a motorcyclist who, some claim, was hit by a truck.
The name of the victim is not known at this time but we learnt that he is from St. Joseph.
All attempts made by DNO to contact the Police PRO Claude Weekes for an official police report or confirmation of the accident were unsuccessful.

Sad news..Since this road upgraded more fatal accident occured,Folks try to avoid more fatal accident look out for each other on the road drive with cautions.
Most of them thinks that they are driving/riding on an air strip. At times a vehicle would over take u , then to make a stop a few blocks away, some of them don’t put on their thinking caps while on our roads .

This was a horrible accident. I did not witness it, but my husband and I saw the aftermath of it; the corpse lying in the road in an awkward, twisted way, and just crowds of people, well, just looking…
The most horrifying thing to me though, there were crowds of people with their smartphones, either taking pictures or videoing the dead body. I thought to myself that these folk are voyeuristic with a lack of respect for the dead. Is this is what we have become?

Technology can be used for the good things in life, such as research, reading, education and even entertainment.
But when you have a bunch of vultures videoing and photographing a dead body, without any loved ones or family members being notified, AND then placed on social networking sites, is drastically wrong and participating in voyeuristic and carnal behaviour.
Do people have any kind of morals or core values at all anymore?
No respect. I saw those graphic photos via facebook and never realize this actually happened in DA. People we need to be more cautious about what we post. This man has family. How would you feel to see a photo of your loved one in a state like this plastered over the internet . Alas!! Be considerate to the family.

My heart felt condolences to the family and friends of this young man. I think that area should have speed bumps in place to slow down the traffic. To all the motorcycle riders please be careful,use protective gear and ride cautiously. You know when you’re on a motorcycle you have to ride with them idiot drivers in mind,they don’t respect motorcycles. I’m not saying this is the case with this accident but generally there’s a lack of respect for motorcyclist.
