Minister of tourism in Dominica always saying how much improvement he making it Dominica I can see nothing is done to attract tourist,,and ask for health and safety. When you talk they vex. But this a bad mark on Dominica tourist industry, the tourist minister should be sacked. But he is skeritt friend. They don’t care if the country go down because all of them ready to jump ship with all Dominicaobey they took loans . For the island to pay back it all gone in their pockets. Run a country they could not even run a vinyo Braf cook up by the river sidebcv

What the hell is the matter with some of you Dominican people a foot bridge collapse dew to bad weather condition Workers party, Q95 Radio and their stupid brainless supporters making a sing and dance about it, Thints like that happens every day around the world UK , USA ,Japan Spain and much more, if a fly goes bye so to speak workers supporters would be on TV and radio station Q95 blaming Pm Skerrit, If the prime minister of Dominica was a white man none would have a bad word to say and that is a fact.

    • December 3, 2016

Yes, the people who are concerned about endangering tourists and the negative repercussions to our tourism industry are… racists. That makes perfect sense.

Doesn’t it intrigue you that it was a Labor Party supporter who came on Q95 to talk about the bridge collapse and the fact that the minister of tourism and the parl rep were informed of the bridge condition?
I guess it is insignificant to you that the platform was not in safe condition and that the authorities should be held responsible

What became of the $100K-US that Skerrit gave to the Bahamas and Haiti. The only option here is to get it back to foot the bill when the tourists sue the Government as there were no warning posts erected at the site that would perhaps cost $55.00EC to put it up.
That bridge was perhaps built since my father was alive and never revisited so here we go.

Which Ministry of Tourism employee is responsible for inspecting that site?!!! an investigation must be launched immediately and consequences meted out against that employee!! This cannot be tolerated.

  9. December 2, 2016

This is the responsibility of the Foresty, Wildlife and Parks Division. They need to monitor these foot paths and cross bridges. So this means it was not monitored for a while. Supervisors open your eyes when staff claiming mileages saying they were on the fields.

How do you say “Child’s Play Construction?” This is what we build to help spur our tourist industry. Great job Labor. Where’s all the passport money gone too? While some were in the Middle East having a good time on the government’s dime, bridges are failing everywhere.

Some of you expect everything to be done and everything to be perfect and normal at all times, even during bad weather.
In Dominica where it usually rains a lot what do you expect?
With the rainy weather, no matter how many inspections are conducted, can anyone prevent a bridge from collapsing?
What planet do you reside in? Certainly not earth.
When it is raining and heavily, prior to visiting those sites, inform the tourists/visitors to be careful or not visit those areas at that time.
Some people are adventurous. They should stay indoors when it is especially raining heavily and thereafter until the weather subsides and hopefully, the water dries up.

      December 2, 2016

Stay indoors? So the tourists should spend the day on the ship? And tell me how the country benefits? When you are saying that everytime it rains ppl should stay indoors
The government should upgrade the sites, period. The cruise season just started and we have rotten bridge breaking with ppl.

People just don’t care in this place. If they see that something needs repair, they just leave it to fall apart. Somebody else can fix it…….whoever that is.

Just a set poor promoters DA have. This could have been avoided if it was frequently monitored knowing tgat it’s a path people will walk at one point or the other. Gasah! !!

      December 2, 2016

It is a path for peopleto walk, not stand putting the full weight of 15 people at one time.

Shame shame shame on the minister of tourism
    What a disgrace mr minister

  26. December 1, 2016

Don’t they do any inspections in the off season? Also they need to record dates repairs are done and check the structure every few months cause rainfall and weight can cause it to weaken. This is not good publicity for Dominica so we have to get our acts together.

someone should be given the responsibility to inspect infrastructures such as railings culverts wooden bridges and foot paths, concrete bridges etc. is our Govt. really giving us value for money?

    • Agreed
      December 2, 2016

Silver Bird, everything in Dominica is being left to deteriorate: roads, bridges, etc. It is really shameful, especially when I have to drive on my pot hole filled road everyday. Dominicans love it so – I swear.
