Embattled Roman Catholic priest, Monsignor Reggie Lafleur, was involved in a motor vehicle accident which occurred earlier this evening (Saturday 12th October) in Goodwill next to Lindo Mart.

According to information reaching DNO, the accident involved a Suzuki SUV which was being driven by Fr. Lafleur and a motor cycle.

The driver of the bike, a female nurse, is said to have suffered two broken legs.

Police are investigating the matter.

I am not a Catholic so I don’t see the good Father as a Hero/Saint/Matyr as people seem to be doing on this forum. He is just a man to me. With regards to his earlier troubles, if he indeed tampered with the young lady he should be made to pay for it. If he didn’t may he go free. Religion does not excuse pedophilia, and I have no problems with priest gettinng involved with grown women(that’s between them and God), but leave kids alone. What if it were your child? Now, the nurse if a brilliant young lady and an experienced rider. She was knocked down and has suffered serious bodily harm. Even if she were to recover she will never be the same. And in any other place this man would either be jailed, or sued or BOTH. Yet we are all crying for the priest? Because he is a priest he is not to blame for traffic accidents? The young lad’s life and welfare is less important? Come on Dominicans….don’t follow so BLINDLY and think for yourselves. To the Nurse Kok…we love you and keep give all to Christ. Don’t let these people stress you out and I urge you to stop reading their comments, for they know not what they do!

And I nearly got crippled and am bedridden for 3 wks now and 6 more to go and have to learn to walk again…. Just because it’s a priest… All u talking about the man and his stress… OMG!!!! … And I’m spending my life taking care dedicating my all to you and yours !!! …. Just cannot believe this….Shocked!!!!!

Someone mentioned Nurse Kock, speedy recovery to the nurse involved I pray that God will place his healing hands on you; he is the ultimate healer. You gave comfort to my mom when she was ill; I’ll never forget you; I will remember you in my prayers.
To Father LaFleur hold strong. You prayed with and for me when I was in distress and needed someone whom I could talk to; and I felt so relieved of my problems/challenges; today I am here and I am praying with and for you in this trying times.
To those who point fingers and continue to make derogatory remarks, remember when you are pointing several fingers on the same hand are pointing at you in return. God Bless all those who are or are not in distress today. Amen

DNO you used the word, ’embattled’. This is a strong word which does not pertain to his demeanor and the situation. He did not bring a case against the woman. She brought it against him. In effect, he is not in a battle with her.
I do think you used this word out of context. Look up the meaning of it.
I need not elaborate on the situation of the complaint the woman brought against Fr. Lafleur. I do not think he is embattled. Did he inform you that he is embattled? You are assuming so.
Generally, the Media loves to exaggerate and sometimes blow matters out of proportion to entice others, to read and respond.

You asked for it!  Some of you make me laugh and sarcastically so with your indifferent comments on specifically religion and practices which reek of dislike and hatred for the Catholic Church. God is taking note! How can you ever hope for eternal salvation with this type of attitude?
Those of you who renounced specifically your Catholic faith and joined other religions, all of a sudden you think you are experts.
Our Lord Jesus Christ and St. Paul spoke of people as you.
What do you call the man who pro-created you? Will you doubt or denounce that he pro-created you? The words which the entire world uses are, “who fathered you – your father.” So why not say father?
Will you also denounce the word, Monsignor?
What do you really know what is contained in Holy Scriptures? You listen to people who “tickle your ears” and misinterpret Holy Scripture to you according to their type of mentality. One fool makes many fools.
I have stated and will repeat, “When people as you die, you will know the truth which Our Lord will reveal to you. Hope it will not be too late for you.”
While searching for some appropriate passages of Holy Scriptures to refute people as you who criticize the Catholic faith and its devotions, I came across the following. Was I elated to read it!
It is stated that whenever we open the Holy Bible, we come across different chapters, exactly what the Holy Spirit wants us to know for the moment.
Here is a good one about calling our Priests “Fathers”:
1 Corinthians 4:14:15 – I am writing you this not to shame you, but to admonish you “as my beloved children.” Even if you should have ‘countless guides’ to Christ, yet, you do not have many fathers, “for I became your ‘Father’ in Christ Jesus through the Gospel.”
This is self-explanatory. Inform others about it. IT IS IN THE BIBLE!
How do you explain this one, this writing of St. Paul? Go and study Holy Scripture. You have greatly sinned, first against God and then against your brothers and sisters in Our Lord Jesus Christ.
Genuinely worship God, pray to him and ask his forgiveness for harassing and persecuting the Catholic faith and speaking ill of its religious practice. You critic, will be punished for that. You know absolutely nothing of Holy Scripture and what God wants of you and expects of you. You are living in total darkness of the light and knowledge.

Wapapa stated that Fr. Lafleur seems to be unlucky with this vehicle and last year he had a similar accident.
When you use the word “unlucky”, it could mean that the accident was his fault. Therefore, I asked whose fault it was. It was not because of wanting beff. Your mentality is simple, warped and low-down.
You will need to cultivate common sense and intelligence to comprehend what others write and cease giving them thumbs down for their sensible comments and questions. Your thumbs down are ignorant and lack comprehension of what was stated and the meaning thereof. You are not smart people.

Sorry to hear. What comes to mind are variations of Murphy’s Law
If something can go wrong, it will.
If anything simply cannot go wrong, it will anyway.
Left to themselves, things tend to go from bad to worse.
When it rains, it pours and
When the winds of change start blowing, they pick up speed quickly.
Trust that all will be okay.

This statement which a few of you made, made me smile. :) When it rains it certainly pours as today in Toronto. It is the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. We had some beautiful warm days and now we had rain all day long to tonight. I mean rain, showers of rain! At least it was not windy and cool which made the day bearable.
Rain can spoil everything, dampen the spirits and outdoor pre-arranged plans and activities. Hoping that tomorrow Monday, the holiday, the sun will come out and shine to make up for today. Have not yet heard the forecast. :)
Every cloud has a silver lining – in time. It is traumatic to be involved in an accident and to be injured. Let us hope that Fr. Lafleur is not overwhelmed by this accident and that the injured motorcycle driver will receive excellent hospital treatment and eventually recover. Hope she is not in too much pain. Let us say a prayer for both of them. God is good!

Also I visit Dominica twice a year I was home in May of this year and I will be there for Christmas of this year. It’s clear to me that the priest was crossing the intersection and the motorcycle was coming from the direction of the hospital therefore the motorcycle had the right of way.
