Bahamas battered by ‘monstrous’ Hurricane Dorian

The most powerful storm to hit the Bahamas since records began has torn off roofs and caused severe flooding.

According to BBC News, the slow-moving, category five Dorian – the second-strongest Atlantic hurricane on record – is now packing sustained winds of up to 165mph (270km/h) and may cause a storm surge of up to 23ft (7m).

There is no official word on casualties but the Red Cross fears some 13,000 homes have been damaged or destroyed.

The hurricane is moving slowly west, with the eastern US coast at risk.

  1. Calling It Like It Is

Wow!!! I did not take long for a post about a legitimate and concerning news story to degenerate into a political cock fight.

Just a reminder to those who cannot resist interjecting politics into every discussion; relax and free up your mind if only for a few moments. While you are at it, unlace and drop you political fighting gloves.

Remember there is a time and season for everything. It is now the season give thanks for being safe and out of the path of Dorian or any storm for that matter. It is also the season to pray for those who are not so fortunate.

May YAH protect and bless all those who find themselves in the path of this dangerous hurricane.

Though Mr. Trump recently stated he had never heard of a category 5 hurricane before, I can assure him that the people of the Bahamas, Dominica and Puerto Rico most certainly have. His pronouncement is even more incredulous when. considering the number of prominent properties he owns in the hurricane prone state of Florida.

Those of us who have lived through a category 5 hurricane know how catastrophic and scary that experience can be. That is why we should continue to look to the hills where our only true help comes from.

I am amazed that Dorian in the Bahamas is somehow reflected on Skerrit in a negative manner.
Right thinking people are praising and thanking Jesus for calming Dorian to a breeze and drizzle when it made landfall in Dominica. My understanding is that many people were praying for protection and defense with the ravages of Maria in mind. Let us continue to pray because the season is not yet over.
Dorian peaked with winds gusts at 200 mph, a record. Making landfall in Dominica as “a breeze and drizzle” is a great miracle in answer to prayers. Most storms become hurricanes on making landfall, but Dominica’s experience was totally unexpected. Dorian made landfall as a safe storm but went on to become a cat 5. Some weather forecasters are hinting at a new cat 6 type designation for Dorian because of its extreme strength. Thank DNO for prompt reports. Thank you Jesus. We know you alone has the power to calm storms. Thanks for answering our prayers and keeping Dominica safe.

Yet another update on the hurricane that past Dominica days ago. The real big story that broke early this morning and is broadcasted all over the US and the Caribbean is absent from DNO news. ANOTHER BIG TIME FRAUDSTER WAS CAUGHT IN THE US AND SHE WAS IN POSSESSION OF A DOMINICA PASSPORT. So much for Roosevelt’s due diligence.
I guess DNO can’t inform its readers yet about this because they need to get Skerrits permission first. DNO you are on the way down the river!!!

ADMIN: Dorian is a major ongoing story. However, we are also working on that story as well. Stay tuned.

Dog, you can talk as much as you want but in the end we will succeed and get shot of that cancer that keeps on growing at the top of the government of Dominica.

Yes a big blue spaceship with the three blind mice, Linton, Francis and Charles returning from a press conference on Mars where the talk on fake missing money news.
Were they the ones on Q this morning insisting that Maria and Dorian were the result of climate manipulations. Was it by those three 5th graders in space where they increase the space between their ears.
Dominica as the first climate resilient Nation in the world is well aware that climate change is cause by global warning. This is as a result of human activities of clear cutting, forest fires, burning of fossil fuels, chemical pollution and rocket science. These activities cause reduced oxygen, the increase of carbon dioxide, methane, carbon monoxide and other poisonous gasses.
Maybe by all those blue empty bubbles the uwp operatives are belching daily with their gossip he said she said gutter noises.

  6. Help us Lord
    September 2, 2019

OMG! Oh Lord watch over the people. A hurricane worse than Maria and so far pounding Bahamas for over 48 hours? Make it worse Bahamas is flat and surrounded by water? So far according to CBS, only one death to report as a 7 yr old drowned as family was trying to run out.
As I think of Dorian which is worse than Maria sitting over Bahamas for 48 hrs with wind in excess of 185MPH, I cannot help but go back to 2017 when Maria sat over Dominica. The difference is, at this time the world thought Dominica was wiped out and everyone died because off course the world knew how Skerrit had made Dominica more vulnerable. But let’s pray for the people of Bahamas

      Skerrit has super powers, Wow.
I know he is supported by the Massive Majority, but super powers that can affect a hurricane, that is a little hard to swallow.

So far I have not heard on any casualties and I hope it remains like that. Houses and infrastructure can be rebuilt since they were built by man.
I thank God Dorian did not make a stop in Dominica because 4 yrs since Maria and 2 yrs since Erika, many Dominicans are still under blue taps, as confirmed by the DLP candidate for Marigot Greg Riviere, who said if he wins it will take a whole year to get his constituents out from tapoline. Can you believe that especially when we think of the millions of dollars Skerrit has baying candidates to run and resign and the millions he spending on an election? I hope we reject that Roosevelt Skerrit in every single constituency or better yet, force him out before another election for the good of Dominica. In the mean time may the good Lord continue to watch over us until we do the right thing

      September 2, 2019

You said 4 years since Maria , Did you mean 4 years since the one term uwp lost the last election. Do you mean the forecast of a cat 5 clean sweep of the 5th grade party 21 to 0 in favour of the Red Nation. When Lennox will lose his verbosity and his deposit. Nice.

    • September 2, 2019

@My Bad, you have the nerves to be mentioning God in that comment of darkness here, don’t you know that God is the Light and He wants nothing to do with darkness?

You don’t even have accurate information, how can 2017 add up to 4 years and 2 years from 2016? PM Skerrit is “baying” candidates–what is that?

So take it or leave it, again I am saying that Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit is a God anointed Leader for Dominica; and he knows that; for it is by God’s Will and commands that he is doing his work on behalf of Dominica’s social and economic developing–you people can bray as hard as you can, nothing and no one will remove PM Skerrit from his role, before God’s work, through him, is finished–believe it or not!
