Journalist killed in Libya: reports

Tim Hetherington

Four foreign photojournalists have been wounded in fighting in Misrata, Libya, and at least one of them is believed to have died, according to media reports.

CBC News is working to confirm reports by the BBC and other media about the death of one journalist.

U.S. magazine Vanity Fair initially said on its verified Twitter stream that the magazine was mourning “the deaths of our own Tim Hetherington” and one other journalist in Libya. The magazine later retracted the second death but confirmed the death of Hetherington.

A tweet under the name TimHetherington dated April 19 read: “In besieged Libyan city of Misrata. Indiscriminate shelling by [Gadhafi] forces. No sign of NATO.”

In 2010, Hetherington was nominated for an Academy Award for co-directing the film Restrepo.

Yes indeed dictatorship is poisonous, that’s why we must do all in our powers to ensure that it does not survive in Dominica.. We are already in phase 6.. We have to stop it right there!! Maybe the manger of the people’s station, Not the GOVERNMENT radio station could help us by allowing the voice of dissenters to be heard on the people’s staion? Are you hearing me Acting Manager of BDS?? I hope you are. You do not want your legacy to be tied to that Corleone family after being in this profession for so many, many years… You have survived many different Government of all political parties.. Please remember your legacy..
