Opposition leader, Lennox Linton, has expressed empathy with the people of Texas, especially Dominicans, who have been affected by the ravages of now Tropical Storm Harvey.
Three days ago, Harvey, then a category 4 hurricane, hit Texas causing severe flooding leaving thousands of residents stranded in their homes.
On Tuesday morning the eyes of Harvey hovered over the Gulf of Mexico Tuesday morning and could still dump up to 15 inches of rain on portions of southeastern Texas and southwestern Louisiana, including the saturated Houston area, where thousands have been rescued and many more people still wait for help, according to CNN.
Linton said there are many Dominicans living in Texas “who are going through this trauma seeing flood waters just ravaging through the place.”
He said a number of Dominicans are reporting safe but a number of them are in difficult and troublesome circumstances.
“So I just want to use the opportunity to reach out to them, to let them know our thoughts and prayers are with them,” he said on Q95′ Talk on the Block on Monday.
He stated that it is going to take some time for life to get back to normal.
“It is going to take a lot of courage and a lot of character to rebuild and get back to normal but of course our Dominicans are known to be resilient people and I am sure they join their Caribbean brothers and sisters in standing together, praying together and sharing the experience together in such a way that they will come out of this as stronger human beings, better human beings ….” he stated.
The Dominica Houston Association reports that it has over 350 members in the Houston area.
Why didn’t that little black hart man say that to Dominicans when Erika, came to visit Dominica that guy did not move a muscle to help Dominica progress, today Mr. Hypocrite is talking about empathizes meaning to understand and share the feeling of anothers, Yes only when their is a Dollar or two coming his way.
I’m waiting for my comments to be moderate after 2 or 3days.
Linton should have boat loads of water going to Texas right now , saying dominica water , that’s what they need now.
Little do you know the USA is not down the road it’s thousand of miles away from the Caribbean so think before u comment.
