Police has confirmed that a Portsmouth man has succumbed following an accident in the northern community of Tan Tan late Tuesday night.

Police PRO, ASP Claude Weekes, told Dominica News Online that Georges George was driving a RAV4 along the Tan Tan main road about 11.45 pm when the vehicle collided with a utility pole.

George sustained injuries mostly to his head.

He was subsequently taken to the Reginald Fitzroy Armor Hospital in Portsmouth and was moved to the Princess Margaret Hospital in Roseau.

He was pronounced dead by a medical practitioner at 1.15 am on Wednesday 29th April 2015.

A coroner’s inquest will be convened to be followed by a post mortem.

“Police continue their investigations,” Weekes said.

This is so very unfortunate! Accidents do happen but could injuries have been less from using seat belts? Could he have been alive possibly? Food for thought…
