Micael O. Mitchel still missing

Search continues for Micael Okwan Mitchel

Police and other officials involved in the search for missing 17-year-old Micael Okwan Mitchel of Fond Cole, who disappeared in the Boeri River in Canefield on the stormy afternoon of Sunday, September 19, are still to make a discovery.

Police spokesman Claude Weekes said yesterday that the search has still not been called off, and he could not say when the search will be called off. He said the subject of foul play could not be determined until the recovery of the boy, who is presumed dead, is made.

Today marks 18 days since Mitchel got swept away by the heavy currents of the Boeri River in an attempt to cross it. This is according to information given to the boy’s mother by his friends who were at the river with him when the incident reportedly occurred.

His mother was informed of the incident between 5 and 6 pm of the evening of September 19. She last saw her son alive about 11:00 that morning.

The search team includes members of the police, Coast Guard, Fire Department and SSU and ambulance personnel.

according to some people.. i smell something fishy around here. much more investigations should have been done. it’s weird that the boy body just disappears and haven’t been found as yet.
this should be like those ncis and stuff on the television… there is another side to the story that the boy’s friends aren’t telling the police officers. thats what i think. it’s weird…… i can imagine how the mother feels right now. he heart won’t ever be at rest till her son’s body is found….. investigate that matter a little further because something here doesn’t seem right

accept my sympathy to mother n family of the boy.At least there’s some hope that maybe he’s alive somewhere n hope that he comes home.Unless there’s no body there’s no proof that he’s dead. SO officers do ur job n search or what ever u have to do to fine this boy. For the family sake.

don’t underestimate the power of our raging rivers! Moreover friends can be helpless in situations like this when caution is not hidded. This brings to mind an account of two carib men who went fishing. on their return home one of the men was swept away by the river and there was nothing he could do. He continued home and when asked where was his friend he responded “liviere poin sa long temp!” For all its worth this yong man’s death may just be an unfortunate accident.

A raging river empties into the sea…this boys body could be anywhere. I really pray that the God of all comfort will comfort the heart of his grieving parents and relatives. Recovering the body would bring some measure of closure.

I am sorry to hear that this 17 year old drowned. A precious life lost will never be regained. Worst yet, a young life. My heartfelt sympathy to his family and friends.
Pardon my question but how bad was the weather and how raging was the river that a 17-year old drowned while crossing it?
Are they really telling the truth? I expect that an investigation is ongoing to get to the truth and the heart of the matter. May the truth prevail.
May his soul rest in peace! Amen!

from the time this child went missing my mind has been wandering, i refrain from assuming things but now its been 3 weeks and no sign of this child, and i cant help but ask.. did this child really fall into the river. Am not calling his lil friends murderes but anything could happen, I just hope that his body can be found and we can all put this to rest. I pray that the Lord lead the officers to the correct place or if it is something different that this little boy be found.

    or
are you saying that they did not report that information to you?

I could understand not being able to find him at sea but not in the river. There is something soo fishy about all of this. I mean where could the body have gone?

My little 2 cents. So this lady’s child went swimming with some friends and she never sees him again and that’s it? Can any else verify that he was at the river? what really happened? This child was with some friends crossing a river? How long did they take before they seek help? Did any of the friends try to help him? etc etc etc.
