A special orphan account has been set up by the National Bank of Dominica to assist children who lost their parents in Tueday’s devastating earthquake in Haiti.
The NBD made the announcement at a press conference Friday morning.
Managing Director of the NBD Gregory DeGannes said $50,000 has already been placed in the account.
“This crisis has left much suffering in Haiti and we would like to join the efforts to bring relief to the people. We feel for the children who have lost their parents and guardians. In this regard, the NDB has set up a special account for donations, dedicated to the aid of those children. Our contribution of $50,000 has already been credited to the account and staff has already begun to make their personal contribution to the account. Our entire board is committed to depositing into that account,” the NBD official explained.
DeGannes also called on the public to donate generously to the account 100067576.
Donations could be made at any of the banks location in Roseau, Canefield and Portsmouth.
