The search for two Portsmouth fishermen who went missing last weekend is still ongoing, according to Police PRO, Inspector John Carbon.
Carbon told DNO on Wednesday morning there are no new developments in the matter.
“The search is going to continue this morning,” he said. “If the officers on the ground find that the chances of finding the individuals are very, very slim they can decide on their own that they can call off the search.”
The Dominica Coast Guard, as well as the Maritime Rescue Coordinating Center of Martinique are currently heading the search.
Thirty three-year-old Andy Mitchel and Samuel Mitchel 28, left on a fishing expedition at about 5 am on Saturday 1st February, 2014 and had not been seen or heard off since then.
The men took to the seas on a blue fishing vessel named TAKE IT EASY powered by a 50 horse power engine.
Samuel Mitchel is well known in cricketing circles as a right-hand batsman and wicket keeper. He has represented Dominica in several regional matches.
Anyone with information on this two missing fishermen are asked to call the police HINT line at 1-800-4468 or CRIME STOPPERS at 1-800-8477.
Has there been any updates on these brothers who went missing?

Dear Lord,
We ask of you,
keep these men safe and sound,
let no harm come before they are found.
They are lost from their family,
from the ones they love,
return them home,
and protect them from above.
Place your loving arms around them today,
guide them safely back home,
to You this we pray.
Dear Lord, if they are lost may they be found intact.
Poor guys. Keep praying for their safe return.
Alas! LORD SEND HELP.

so what happen ,did they get the other brother because almost every body saying i hope pinky alive or pinky come home or something .come on people its two brother not pinky alone
carbon its too early to call off the search.but it doe even have a week yet you already saying that.
Carbon is only the PRO of police so he is doing the reporting. he is not the one who called it off. the coast guard officials did.
hope u still alive pinky. we play nuff cricket. prayers.
i taught is two brothers ,so why u asking for return of one .that not nice
This is really disturbing. I would like to think that Pinky and his brother are still with us. I remember him having a big heart, a joire de vivre and a mind always searching for solutions. When I managed the Dominica Cricket Team at the tournament in St. Vincent a couple of years ago, he would often knock on my door and we would have long discussions about cricket, fishing, his challenges and his plans for the future-he was always and good listener and he was such a bubbly person that listening to him reminded me of those persons who are always positive and full of optimism. He regarded fishing as one of the best careers in the world and I concurred.
Get back to us Pinky, with your brother for there is much more you have to do.
to the mitchell family god is with u through it all.be strong
I hope they had a basic survival kit on their boat – at least oars, water and a bailer.
Unless the boat capsized, they have fishing lines so they should be able to eat.
But the government should mandate anybody who ventures out on the oceans should have a floatation device for each occupant.
We have to start thinking about our safety and not think because this has never happened to us it will never happen.
Give yourself a fighting chance people.
I hope they are recued alive and well, but I do hope other fishermen heed this and take the proper precautions.
These things need not end in tragedy.
Why do fisherman not wear life jackets!!! This shouldl be a requirement.
I fail to understand this as even the most experienced sailers wear them. If it is down to cost, is it worth loosing your life for food.
Oh what such sadness in Portsmouth these boys are good never in problem Portsmouth people are praying

It happens so often.
lord bless this family with lots of strength and courage. Hope the bodies are found so at least there will be closure for the family. I’ve been in this situation and it hurts. Faith carries on.
Oh boy, these fishing expeditions…
They are HONEST fisher men.
Come to Portsmouth and ask about them.
Some of us too like to judge people when you know nothing about them.
People like you that are putting darkness on our land.
Trust in the Lord and he will let have a positive mind.
C how quick u ppl r to judge…in ur case, what u implying is very uncalled for. Andy and Pinky r honest fishermen, they come from a fishing family. Swallow ur tongue and shut ur mouth, aint no drug dealing or human trafficking ish going down here. Just cause is Possie, eh, the nerve of u ppl!
The Mitchell family is in my prayers. Stay strong
Oh dear Jesus!
