The daughter of president Charles Savarin was involved in a vehicular accident which occurred late Friday afternoon.
According to police reports, the vehicle that Miss Savarin was driving plunged into a 200ft precipice between Pichelin and Belle Vue Chopin.
The information reaching Dominica News Online indicates that the vehicle was extensively damaged but Miss Savarin received only minor injuries.
Isn’t that where n accident happened in 2003 n the people died?iI think is the same place
this is the same place where a young man from the Bioche community lost his life
this is the same place 21 years ago a young man from the Bioche community lost his life and nothing was done for the safety of the people
i am almost 100%sure that this time around and quickly too this section of road is going to be addressed. the first daughter almost lost her life there. just wait and we go ee. this country is too reactive.
Three things I should have included.
(1) TO GOD BE THE GLORY! We thank God for sparing the young lady’s life. Yes, I believe it was HIM: the gracious Hand of God kept her safe.
(2) It was refreshing to read the kind comments. You are such a warm caring people. God bless you for this an outpouring of love. Your words heal and uplift.
(3) My prayers are with President Savarin and his family, as well as the entire Nation of Dominica.
Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. Pentecostal Evangelist.
As a father and grandfather I am so glad this young lady – Miss Savarin – is safe. All of us who are parents know the concern when our children are out on the road.
In 2002 my wife and I had a similar accident on the east coast of Canada. Our car was totalled when it went over a steep precipice and landed wheels up. Miraculously, we were not injuried physically but emotionally it was traumatic.
Such life threatening accidents can happen to any of us. In our case there had been a snow storm and the narrow two lane highway was not properly plowed. I wasn’t speeding but I should have been going slower. However, I wish people wouldn’t surmise. Don’t read into the report more than what is there. The experience is hard enough on the victim without people saying things they know nothing about.
Sarah and I were glad that day that we are saved! Thank God we know the Lord Jesus as our personal Savior. If we had died we know where we would spend eternity! Praise God, we would be in heaven! This is not because of ANY good that we have done. It is ALL because Christ died for our sins and rose again (I Corinthians 15:3,4) (Ephesians 2:8,9) and we have received Him as our Savior. (St. John 1:12) (Revelation 3:20)
Not every accident gets nation wide attention. I pray God will use this one to speak to many hearts. Indeed, as one DNO commentator has already implied, it should cause us to ask “Where will I spend eternity?”
Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. International Pentecostal Evangelist. Director of Living Hope Ministries.

I want to thank everyone for their expressions of sympathy and concern and well wishes regarding the accident in which my sister Carla was involved in on Friday. It was a very rainy day, and there was heavy mist on the road. She was coming from Grandbay where she had gone to drop a friend of hers who is pregnant. She was not speeding, she had her seatbelt on and went to the side of the road to allow an oncoming vehicle to pass. She veered a little too much and got onto the edge which was soft, skidded a little and ran off the road. Luckily there was another vehicle behind her who saw it all happen and was able to raise the alarm and call for help…we want to thank the drivers for stopping and making the necessary calls for help. On behalf of all of us at home, I want to express my thanks to the police, firemen and all those who helped to bring her up from the 200 ft drop. I also want to express my thanks to the doctors and nurses who treated her, and most of all, we all give our thanks to Almighty God for saving Carla from what could have been the most tragic and quite possibly fatal accident.
Amanda Savarin
Thank God she is doing well. It is a good thing she had on her seat belt. She was smart to have buckled up. This prevented her from also being thrown out of the vehicle and worst injuries. God is so good!
Say hello to your aunt Petrolina. This is from someone in Toronto. When I see her I will tell her who sent this greeting.
Does anyone know about the blue jeep which seems to have crashed there before…it is right behind her jeep? I would like to know what happened in that accident….
The buckle up comments are quite interesting. I am from a big country where seat belts must be worn but over time here I believe that more people may die in these types of accidents with seatbelts on. The amount of accidents where cars go down cliffs or roll and people just have minor injuries is staggering. I saw one car that flipped in St Joe area and if the guy had a seat belt on he would of been crushed because the roof at the front was almost flat. He got tossed into the back of the car. Living here makes me see seatbelts in a different light. Seatbelt were designed for protecting people in head on crashes. Read this “Quite apart from the fact that most people could n’t roll their cars over if they tried, it turned out that most people who were killed in roll-overs were killed by being crushed when the roof caved in. The best chance of survival in such a case is to duck down, jump clear or be thrown clear, all of which are prevented by a seatbelt. The effect of seatbelts in roll-overs was thus to increase, not decrease, the number of fatalities.”
So I for one do not should everyone should wear seatbelts. I do not see how they are going to save me when rolling down a cliff. Doesn’t make sense to me. The type of accidents here are not the same as in UK, US etc. This is just an opinion. I hear another prominent person went off a cliff yesterday and everyone in the car is ok.
How many people in Dominica have died in a car accident not wearing seatbelts? I don’t think its many and then would wearing a seatbelt make a difference? I am not sold on all things the west tell people to do. Different things for different places and people.
I will always encourage wearing seat belts. As her vehicle descended to the precipice, visualize what could have occurred to her if she had not won her seatbelt. She must have been protected from major injuries and who knows, death. Her seatbelt helped her very well.
Still happening in the same location so many. This place have something. I am familiar with this area, and to tell you the truth to those of you who do not know the area.It is about the famous old tale of seeing white people in the area walking from an old track to this deep Ravin. It is a mystery why so many end up there. The road is wide in that area at least she is alive and well to say what happened. Everytime i visited Dominica and i am passing that area I plead the Blood of Christ over the vehicle i am driving.
Was to stirring up the pot to look for the hypocrites a little too much for DNO? I wondered how many really mean what they write, and I was looking for a reaction. You guys crashed my polling mechanism by killing my post.
To God be the glory
God is Good. Happy your injuries were not more severe. I pray you have a speedy recovery. You must realize that you are Blessed. To God the Glory.
a bit too far…
You have no heart Today is mine tomorrow is yours shame shame Maybe you do not have a heart or children
So her first name is???
d one one for benji
Go fly a kite you hateful critter!

Please do something about that road, my brother almost got killed in that very same location.
this road has two palreps in the administration. dr. darroux and mrs. charles , where is there fore sight.
im really sorry
im realy sorry president i hpe she i ok
Hey. Carla get better soon
God warning dem.
you’re an idiot
what a cruel and unchristian thing to say.
You already get one yourself man, so you would recognize God s warning readily.
I goy a close call that changed my life. He/shn a must be a christian and want us to change our lives before it;’s too late. Haven’t the Adventists and Jehova Witnesses knock at your door with that message.
Morihei, you act as if you are exempt from God’s warning.
Glad to hear that she is well. The Bishop should be asked to bless this section too many accidents happens in this spot.
How can a bishop blessing a section of road do anything to prevent accidents or keep drivers safe ?
You never know. Prayers do help. Most of all, those who decide to go behind the wheel should always pray to God for his guidance and protection. As it is stated, “God governs the world but prayer governs God.” This is the power of genuine prayer to God. Keep this in mind.
Thank God she is OK. It must have been traumatic for her. Driving in Dominica and on winding roads, going up and downhill is no easy matter. Drivers must always be careful and avoid speeding. Slow and steady wins the race.
You are one wicked person. DNO should not have allowed such a comment as yours. Think of when you close your eyes to sleep what may happen to you.
Than God she only had minor injuries. The weather on Friday evening was terrible. Heavy rain and strong winds. It was difficult to drive in that weather.
May you get well soon. On another note, what are the chances of a number of vehicles crashing and landing at the exact spot? Should that not be an indication to who ever is responsible for general road safety? Was that the sight of the accident which took place a few years ago when a couple people died?
Thank God you are okay. scary site
God is a good God, thanks God she’s ok.
There are some serious narrow treacherous turnings on the Grand bay road in need of guard rails. Time to address these and please warning signs especially for our visitors.
God is good, I thank God for saving your life miss Charles. Just keep on trusting Him.
All of a sudden “God is good”?You mean is not Skeritt that save Her ?
John Paul, for obvious reasons, I wish you would change your name.
I read here on DNO some time ago, where a motorcyclist was hit by a car/jeep – the rider didn’t get much sympathy; nor did the people mention “God” as in this instance. The reason is obvious. I thought we were “one people.”
Woo papa! today is “God’s day.”
He is our Heavenly Father. He loves that, whenever we mention His Most Holy Name for good reasons! He must be smiling too as I am while typing this.
I have previously stated, He wants our attention and will choose such opportunities and others, as this dialogue, to get it.
I gave you thumbs up. In my estimation, you did not deserve thumbs down. Have a great day/ evening! God bless you!
wow give thanks to Jah
thank God she is ok.
I know right
Among all the craziness of these days there are blessings. Petro, give thanks. One love.
God is good daughter, praise him all the time
To God be the Glory thank God she will be ok. And no one else thou it was not mentioned if any other person was travelling with miss Savarin at the time of the accident. Our prayers are with you and may you receive the care and attention to a speedy recovery.
vehicle always end up there, as you can see there are a few down there. That section of road needs to be address before a bus load of innocent people end up there.
She must have been wearing a seat belt to get away with only minor injuries. If so, this is a great opportunity to promote seat belt use.
You are 100% right, but tell that to some Dominicans and I quote “WE DON’T USE SEAT BELTS IN DOMINICA” Not realizing seat belt is not a fashion statement…but meant for our safety…When visitors buckle up, some of the idiots laugh in your face like you are stupid….Happy the young lady was not badly hurt…
Visitors are wise to buckle up. It is mandatory to wear a seat belt also in Canada. If the police stop drivers for inspection and they are not wearing a seatbelt, they will be charged a few hundred dollars. This includes passengers. The Dominica government should also make it mandatory.
Thanks god
OMG….at least she is alive. Thank God
Praise God she is fine. Must have been scary. I got the chills just seeing this.
Thank God my dear you are fine, if u have sinned or anyone around your circle, please ask God for forgiveness!
God is not sleeping….he acts in different ways!
Accidents happen all the time. An accident can happen to anyone of us, even if we may be one of the most careful drivers.
I suppose you consider yourself a saint? Judge not that you may not be judged accordingly and two-fold – The Word of the Lord!
Thank God sshe is ok with minor injury.
Praise God she is safe
Looking at the picture you would say she drove and parked next the other vehicle.
That area seems to be a grave yard for vehicles.
I am calling for more guard rails or the planting of more Bamboo trees.
praise god she is safe, this has been a cry of grand bay people for years, over ten vehicle have gone down there, on boxing day a young lady from garnd bay went down in this area, to date nothing has been done.I betting, now that the presidents daughter went down there within this month guard rails will be installed, mark my words.Do not get me worng that im happy or in support of the accident, what im saying because of the danger this area poisedsomething should have been done along long time.
When I read this article, it reminded me of an accident which occurred some years ago. I was wondering if this would have been the same area when a dear friend was involved in an accident. They ended up close enough to the precipice. She informed me fortunately, a small tree prevented them from descending into the precipice.
The vehicle was driven by a family member who was visiting from the US for a family’s funeral. She, being a prayerful person was injured but recovered. A few years ago she passed on through natural causes.
It appears that area is a dangerous spot. A retaining wall should be built in that area to avoid further accidents.
She received minor injuries because she was wearing her seat belt, had she not she would be thrown from the jeep while it tumble down the precipice. Dominicans do ya’ll see how safe it is to wear seat belts. The Police needs to start enforcing this law, they check the seat belts when your vehicle is being inspected to be licensed but they don’t check it on the Road. Speedy recovery Ms Saverin!
Was she alone? Guess she was not driving all wahat I c. Something needs to be done.
to god be the glory she servive angels watching over her
I hope she is ok one of the reasons I am sometimes afraid to drive when I go back home. those precipices are a scary site.
I am relieved that she is safe and wish her a speedy recovery from her injuries!
THANK GOD ALL IS OK.
hope she is ok
Wow……thank God she is ok! Hope that all are well……
Got to be careful driving these roads, people. You all know that you do not have the roads to be speeding the way you do. Of course, speeding was a factor. Hey, stay off the phones too. Glad she is okay though.
speeding was a factor???… Were you there? Are you familiar with this road? Even in normal weather conditions it is a challenge. Its just that we have grown used it and do not recognise it as such.
she was not speeding!
How do you know speeding was a factor? Do you know what that particular piece of road is like?
Seems you were right there on the scene when it happened!!!
how do you know that
we must stop assuming and get the facts first before commenting/ Seat belts are life savers use them
Hey speeeding may not have been a factor that road was covered in a blanket of fog on friday so watch what you saying!
Thank you God that the young lady survived this terrible accident because it could have been fatal. Please ponder on this thought, “Where will I spend eternity.” Wish you a speedy recovery my dear. God bless.
The Grand Bay Road needs serious railings and road reflectors and people should sue the Government for not protecting its people especially for those who have had accidents in these ravines.
that is what grand bay people giving the govenment full support for, so they can be neglected there have been meny accidents in that same area if you look close there are other vehicles down there the place should have ralings long time ago
Dominica has some dangerous areas. I do think when it rains it makes those areas much more dangerous. A railing or a retaining wall would be appropriate.
The friend and her relative who had the accident some years ago were fortunate that the vehicle they were in did not roll down to the precipice. They were on their way to prayers for their departed relative. She, being a prayerful person, told me she prayed during that ordeal which is what saved them from going down further.
to god be the glory, she was saved
