Police have commenced investigations into the sudden death of Merl Isidore, who is the mother of the MP for Salisbury, Hector John.
Police Public Relations Officer, Acting Inspector Pellam Jno Baptiste said Isidore, 65, allegedly died suddenly about 11:30 pm on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at the Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH).
A coroner’s inquest will be convened in the matter.

After effects of such news, left me with a headache. May her soul RIP and to family and friends hold strong and take it to the Lord in prayer.
The article did not say she was a patient at the hospital. Was she taken ill and died soon after being brought to the hospital? That is the only way she could have died suddenly at the hospital.

She was 65. We could say, a relatively young person. Generally, West Indians look young for their age, “ten years younger”. Learned this in Canada.
We do look younger compared to so-called white Canadians. No discrimination here. We can tell a lie about our age. I do. 
If I am asked by a co-worker or any other associate, wherever I may be (people are curious), I never divulge my exact age. I may say: “How old do you think I am?” Whatever they reply, it is always less than my age. I reply, “How did you know?” 
It will be shocking/surprising if someone appears healthy-looking and suddenly dies.
Probably she felt sick and went to the hospital. While there she suddenly died. We are curious about all this. If we are to know, we will know.
It is sad though for her family who, obviously did not expect her passing. Very sad for them to cope with her sudden passing. RIP.
May God grant them necessary comfort and strength.

In life we get sick and we may recover and leave the hospital or sadly at times we can get worse and will not recover depending on our illness. It can happen to any one of us. Difficult as it may be for family members. Death of a loved one is very hard and sad but we all have been there at one time or another.
Knowing that it can happen to anyone of us, that is why when someone is ill or a family member of another has died, we express our sympathy and wish the sick a speedy recovery or the family of the deceased our condolences.

If an individual dies within 24 hours of admission to the hospital with no recent complaints/admissions, the death becomes a police case and it will be treated as sudden and will be investigated.

The MP for Salisbury is in mourning and so is the community. We express our sympathies to the Hon. MP and his family. Death of a family member is a very difficult matter for any one to have to deal with. Death of a mother is particularly severe on the psyche of anyone. May the good Lord strengthen you all.

How is this a sudden death if she was in the hospital; for why would she be in the hospital if she wasn\’t a sick person. And sick people are always on the line of death–especially those who accept death and dying in their mind.
@graceful..think before u speak. one can go to the hospital because of a broken leg, arm, for hemorrhoids etc, been there myself wasn’t sick..it wasn’t life threatening, my doctors said it was minor, was just one small extra growth but i didnt like to see it,, did not even feel any pain at all after the operation, think man think, u can have sudden deaths at a hospital. PLease inform
It has happened to many people and more than we will ever know.
A friend informed me that her mother walked into a hospital and did not walk out.
Others whose family members in the hospital appeared OK and as soon as they left the hospital, they received a call they died. This was in Toronto.
People must understand these deaths occur. It is not only in Dominica. We should know they occur all over the world. Life is uncertain.

Dont you people understand< The Hospital does not know the cause of death. Somebody died the other day and they put 5 possibilities as the cause of death the only reason an autopsy was not done is because the dead was advanced in age and the family was strong.

I recall one of my mother’s wise words: “There is always a cause for death.”
Some aged people could die of old age. Even though the departed was advanced in age, an autopsy should always be performed to determine the cause of death. Who knows? The doctors could learn something from it.

Why are police involved? Is there criminal mischief involved? She was not found dead at her home, nor did she die suddenly at her home. She died in hospital, so a coroner should be the initial investigative pathway, unless there is more than DNO has divulged.
Obviously! If DNO’s headline states, “Investigation”, there is something to it.
Her death is considered suspicious. However, I hope not.
I would think DNO knows but was not given the mandate to divulge it; at least, not yet, if ever.

Yes they are! But I am wondering what they expect to find. The lady was in the hospital. And some people easily accept death, so their mind simply go ahead and feed it right into reality.
Feeling sick or feeling healthy–we have to be careful what is taking place in our mind; because the mind is the ground of Life and death–whatever seed is sowed there will be fed to our body cells, which determines our state or condition of living or existence.
