St. Lucia Prime Minister offers condolences to Dominica following deadly accident

Five young men of Penville died in the accident

Prime Minister of St. Lucia, Honourable Allen M. Chastanet has sent condolences to the Government and People of Dominica following a vehicular accident in that island where five young men lost their lives. The incident occurred on the morning of Sunday August 06th 2017 in Vieille Case, in the northern part of Dominica, when the vehicle reportedly plunged off a cliff.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Dominica at this time. Dominica is our sister isle and we in Saint Lucia have gone through something very similar and we know how difficult this can be for a small country,” noted Prime Minister Chastanet.

“On behalf of the people of Saint Lucia I express our immense sadness and extend our condolences to the families of the young men and to Honourable Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit, who is also the MP for the area, and the people of Dominica.”

On November 10th 2011, the entire country of Saint Lucia was thrown into mourning after a bus of passengers coming from a funeral near Morne Sion, Choiseul veered off a cliff into the sea reportedly killing 19 persons.

As the Prime Minister recalled the incident he said: “We know the heartache that Dominica is suffering after losing these five young men in this way and right now I know that every Saint Lucian can sympathize with what they are going through. You have our most profound sympathy at this time.”

I wish to sympathize and send my deepest condolences to family, friends, the community of Penville and the island. I also wish to take this opportunity to forewarn young people,do take heed to the lives you live. Don’t be reckless and indulge in a life of debauchery; remember the Bible scripture which says,”Remember the Creator in the days of thy youth.” Blessed love…

Thank you St. Lucia Prime Minister. Your condolence is greatly appreciated. Every country gets its share of sorrow in such a manner when they are least expected.
I reside in Canada and I can inform you that up here we have our share constantly due to the greater population. Where there are people, accidents of various nature will occur, as much as we wished they did not.
Throughout the years Dominicans and St. Lucians have always shared a bond of friendship. I know some St. Lucians and we get along very well. One of my friends who resided in St. Lucia knows you and your family very well. We spoke about you when you were elected St. Lucia PM. There are others I know who also know you.
Continuing health, strength and progress as St. Lucia Prime Minister.
God bless you, your nationals and your country.
