I would like to extend my love and support to all the people who were affected the this disaster. Now is the time for unity to help one another to over come all suffering in this difficult time. May God give the citizens of Dominica the strength, and the Government the wisdom and knowledge to do the right thing to help the people over come their situation, and bring life back to the normal way of life. alot of the damages to homes in mahaut and massacre is because people claim the river bed as part of their yard by puting concrete walls and making the river into a gutter, you never know when they will overflow..

    now start bashing the truth

Thank you DNO for those photos. It would be helpful though if the photos were labelled because while places like Layou River, Emshall, at least one of the Massacre photos may be easy to determine as well as the Warehouse disco area, it would be nice to know exactly what places the others represent.

I hope this is not asking too much.

WoW! 8-O Do we need any more proof? Nature is posing a serious threat to mankind worldwide.
We should appreciate the forewarning signs. Our focus should sharpen for more of that scenario – mega storms, floods and superquakes. Let’s take heed. Clean up our acts where necessary, pray more, prepare to serve and help others readily and practice picking up the pieces.

    Get into survival mode, people.

From the comfort of my desk in Florida I enjoyed, yet bewildered at the playlist of the ravages featured on your tube.

My heartfelt sympathy to those who suffered and lost during this rain disaster.

How do we measure rainfall in dominica? 2 to 4 inches of rain? NAAAAA!

    • MangoSweet
      October 2, 2011

I have a feeling that the Canefield-Mahaut-St Joseph area may have received about 4 inches (100 mm) in a few hours. It was the intensity, i.e. the amount we received in such a short space of time) that caused all that havoc. 4 inches of rain over 24 hours is bad enough, but falling in just 4-5 hours is BIG TROUBLE on an island like Dominica. I am surprised that the Met Office did not tel lus how much rainfal was recorded at Canfeield for that day. DNO you shoud try to find out and post that with a story.
