Dominica to host Caribbean Week of Agriculture

Registe

The Nature Isle has been named as the destination to host this year’s 10th Annual Caribbean Week of Agriculture from October 9-15, bringing close to 300 foreign nationals to the island.

It is also expected to provide a forum for discussions towards the review of present agricultural policies in the region.

Program Coordinator Ed Registe says the event will also seek to develop a stronger vision for the development of the agriculture sector.

“Several Caribbean countries have hosted that event in the past and Dominica has accepted to host and we are confident that we can pull it off successfully. The event provides an opportunity for policy makers, diplomats and various organizations come together and review the sector to reposition itself to improve rural life across the Caribbean,” Registe said.

Registe says several sectors are involved in the preparation work.

“Dominica is preparing very hard and we know some of our own limitations but nonetheless we are prepared to host. One of the major activities is a trade expo that will provide an opportunity for our agricultural producers to showcase their products and services. It is also an opportunity to develop partnerships and network with other companies and manufactures,” he said.

He is calling on the public to embrace the opportunity.
