Antigua and Barbuda records second homicide

Jahfari Isaac

Neighboring country Antigua and Barbuda has recorded its second homicide for the year.

The latest is 25-year-old Jahfari Isaac, who died on Tuesday after he was shot multiple times last week Sunday.

The married father of one had been on a ventilator at the hospital since the shooting and doctors had told his family to prepare for the worst.

Issac was shot in the head, thigh, side, and scrotum.

Dexter Scotland of Willikies was wanted in connection with the shooting. He turned himself in to the police yesterday.

The first homicide was recorded last month when 25-year-old Roudi Shmaly, a Syrian businessman, was shot dead during an armed robbery.

It happened at Pick n Mix Mart on DeSouza Road. A lone gunman reportedly went into the superette and robbed the cashier of an undisclosed amount of money.

Shmaly intervened and he was shot in the head.

A 16-year-old has been charged with his murder.

Antigua’s murder rate is low because the young thugs cannot shoot straight. It has nothing to with any crime prevention measures the country has in place.

As in Dominica, too.many young people have disappeared as if in thin air. Their whereabouts unknown.

There is no real strategic crime prevention plans in these matchbox size countries. The ruling political parties are clueless. The people are now at the mercy of these trigger-happy, homicidal miscreants.
