Award-winning Caribbean author embarks on international book tour

We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Anderson Reynolds is currently in the United States to commence his international tour for his latest book, “They Called Him Brother George: Portrait of a Caribbean Politician”. The book, published by Jako Books, provides a multi-faceted view of the political, artistic, and personal life of George Odlum, a prominent figure in St. Lucian and world history.

The tour will kick off in New York, hosted by the Consulate General of St. Lucia, on Thursday, October 19 at 6:30 PM at the St. Lucia House. Future tour dates in cities such as Hartford, Toronto, Atlanta, South Florida, Washington DC, and London will be announced shortly.

At each event, Dr. Reynolds will introduce his extensive body of work, read excerpts from “They Called Him Brother George”, answer questions from the audience, and conduct book signings. All six of his books will be available for purchase.

Earlier this year, “They Called Him Brother George” was launched in Dr. Reynolds’ home island of St. Lucia. The event was attended by both former Prime Minister Dr. Kenny D. Anthony and current Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre.

In related news, Dr. Reynolds’ 2023 St. Lucia Emancipation Lecture was well received and continues to receive praise. Encouraged by this response, Dr. Reynolds plans to present lectures based on his writings periodically.

For those who missed the Castries launch of “They Called Him Brother George” and Dr. Reynolds’ 2023 Emancipation Lecture, recordings are available for viewing on YouTube.

In other noteworthy news, St. Lucia’s pioneer actress, director, and movie producer, Mathurine Emmanuel is making significant strides on the international stage. Her latest movie, “Shantaye’s World”, won the International New York Film Festival gold award for best feature film. Earlier this year, the University of Greenwich honored her with an honorary Doctor of Arts degree for her contribution to film.

Ms. Emmanuel is also touring with her novel “Shantaye’s World”. The next stop is London with screenings scheduled at Genesis Cinema on October 14, Rio Cinema on October 15, and Peckhamplex Cinema on October 24.
