Brian Linton, the brother of former opposition leader Lennox Linton, was released by police last night after being arrested sometime yesterday. According to reports, Linton was taken into custody on allegations of threats to burn the City of Roseau.
Further reports stated that Linton had been taken into police custody when he went to sign at the Marigot Police Station as required under his bail conditions. The Marigot police then advised Linton that they were instructed to detain him for an investigative squad from Police headquarters in Roseau.
Close sources told DNO that Linton was released with no charges.

During a police press conference held on Thursday February 22, 2024, Acting Police Chief Davidson Valerie said he received intelligence gathered from social media and other credible sources that, there are threats circulated on social media by a group of people believed to be associated with a meeting organized by the Concerned Citizens that was scheduled for Sunday, February 25, 2024 in Roseau to commit lawlessness and create violence during the meeting.
“Some of the threats are to procure gasoline, to burn the City of Roseau,” Valerie revealed. “There is also a threat to create an island-wide blackout, so as to facilitate the commission of illegal acts against persons including the Minister of National Security.”
In the interest of national security, Valerie said he met with two organizers of the meeting, Former Leader of the United Workers Party (UWP) Lennox Linton and Executive Member of the UWP Nicholas George.
“At the meeting with them I expressed my concerns regarding the inciteful comments being disseminated on social media by groups of persons believed to be associated with the meeting,” he explained.
According to Valerie, the Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force (CDPF) is prepared to intervene and deal with anyone who engages in unlawful behavior.

I recently recommeded that a friend of mine consider Dominica as his next vacation spot. A couple of weeks later he told me that he thought I was his friend.
Puzzled, I inquired what did he mean. He sternly replied that he had done some quick research about Dominica after my recommendation and was very disturbed at what he had learned.
I asked him what he had learned and quickly replied that his research had revealed that Dominica is a “do nothing” place where a lot of the people seem angry, bitter, consumed and torn by politics while oblivious to what a beautiful natural paradise they live in.

Sadly the CDPF has once again shown its alignment with the DLP rather than a force to protect the citizenry. Blackmore and the cabal must STOP interfering in the management of the CDPF forthwith and stay in their rightful place.
In the other hand, police officers must accept the fact that they are not immune to criticism under the laws and that freedom of speech is still protected under our constitution. Once Brian spoke about the his interactions with now DCP JJ we all knew there was going to be retaliation. Imagine seeing a police officer in Dominica with a HOLE in his pants walking in town. Go to Whitchurch and you see the type of security standing there with t-shirts written ARMY on them. – I have seen two.
