Public Awareness Officer in the Environmental Coordinating Unit, Jahisiah Benoit has described the ‘Green Tech Start Up Bootcamp’ which got underway at the Fort Young Hotel last Thursday as a new approach to business development.

The event was held in order for entrepreneurs to present ideas to help mitigate climate change.

“This is a new approach to business development,” he said. “Often we only hear about business development in terms of business plan and access to credit but here we can think of business in terms of being a way to ensure that Dominica can meet its sustainable development goals.”

Benoit continued, “It’s a means of ensuring a way that entrepreneurs can be the change they want to see in the economy and create employment for themselves and their peers.”

According to Benoit, it is very important that the organizers are taking this approach.

“It is very important that we are taking this approach of bringing the entrepreneurs in Dominica, in St Lucia, across the Caribbean in contact with the technical experts from the National Regulatory Commission, DOMLEC, from DOWASCO [Dominica Water and Sewerage Company] , Dominica Solid Waste Management Corporation, and getting them to understand the realities that we grapple with on a daily basis in addressing climate change and other related issues,” he stated.

Benoit further stated that, “We need our entrepreneurs to develop applications that can help in energy auditing and so we can share this sort of applications to the hotels across Dominica, to the guest houses across Dominica, so that a restaurateur, a hotelier can simple use an application to assess whether or not they are really reducing their carbon footprint and make that savings that they need to be able to create the new job for that young person in their community.”

The activity was hosted by the Caribbean Climate Innovation Center (CCIC) in partnership with the National Development Foundation of Dominica (NDFD) and is carded to take place from the 1st – 3rd of December.

    Go Benoit.

GreenTech is the way to get some bucks from white folks.

Of course this climate change thing is a scam, but never mind, get the bucks and do nothing. That is the Dominica way. Live and learn.

By the way, you look just like the young Skerro we know when he started off in his mission off tomfoolery on the people of Dominica.

This is a young man looking out for the youth in Dominica. Taking it one step at a time is the only way. Keep going bro. You are earning your respect.

Somehow Benoit has no respect, he acknowledged everyone except Joseph Isaac when he came to the Podium and the dignitaries were listed for acknowledgement. Sickening!!

The old folk used to call that a garcon malkassay, and they were right. When you don’t respect others or show no courtesy you are only harming yourself.

If only you were putting all that effort into doing things in Roseau South you would be quite ready to oust Joshua Francis, but you are doing nothing towards that. But again you are only new wine in an old wineskin

Benoit, do you think that Dominica on a whole is prepared, has been prepared to execute such a sound and well deserved initiative? Have you not listened to the lecture on Autocratic leaders, and by extension, corrupt governments and practices by Dr. Francis Severin? Are you not aware of the obstacles: political, educational, economical, that we serve and who the obstructionists are? Well, I advise that you listen to the lecture of Dr. Francis Severin again.
We hear of new initiatives ever so often, but the structure and institutions and resources to implement are all compromised by cheap political interference. You know that, you have been advised, you need to wake up and take stock. I hope you were present at the ” Autocracy – Dem Belly Full-but they hungry”. A must for everyone. Get rid of the politics of Skerrit, it is not scientific and honourable, but corrupt and spiteful. Stay focus on your career and a clean political slate, if not will haunt you forever. Run from them…
