Partnership with Mahaut Bus Association (MBA)

Dominica’s leading Telecommunication Company Digicel and the Mahaut Bus Association (MBA) have announced a new strategic alliance which will improve networking, bring uniformity and professionalism among bus drivers who are responsible for the reliable mass movement of persons in that Dominican community on a daily basis.

“Public transportation in a small island nation like Dominica is critical to the economic well-being of the country as it is what drives the social and economic engine ensuring that workers, employers and families are well served. It is a cornerstone of a strong community, and we are proud to join the Mahaut Bus Association in promoting its value to our community,” said Mr. Johnny Ingle – Digicel Acting Country Manager.

On a daily basis public transportation, provides Mahaut’s hundreds of residents with a safe, affordable and reliable public transportation option. It also helps raise the standard of living and quality of life by creating jobs – over forty persons are employed by the Association, it allows people to live independent, active lives including senior citizens and fosters strong communities allowing residents to attend events in and out of their community without worry.

The strategic partnership between Mahaut Bus Association and The Bigger, Better Network Digicel involves a full package for over forty drivers, which includes handsets with unlimited calls within their circle, monthly credit, branded uniform polo shirts. This amounts to an investment by Digicel of $36,000 plus the cost of the handsets for a 2 year period in the first instance.

“We are pleased that Digicel has joined the Mahaut Bus Association and will be helping us to promote the value of public transportation across Dominica. Digicel’s expertise in reliable, affordable telecommunication will be a tremendous resource for our Association as we work to ensure that our clients – even those who don’t currently take advantage of public transportation – about the tangible benefits of affordable, accessible and reliable transit options,” said Worrel St. Jean, the President of Mahaut Bus Association.

For its part in the alliance, Digicel will receive branding on all buses in the Association while bus operators will wear Digicel branded polo shirts.

Digicel has an excellent reputation for supporting projects and organizations that affect positive change in our communities across Dominica,” said Worrel St. Jean, Mahaut Bus Association President. “We know that Digicel shares our commitment to and enthusiasm for public transportation, and we are excited to have them on our team.”

very good idea; i think dbs radio should get on board and ditridute cd s with these anti drug and anti violence messages combined with the popular every day music so bus drivers can play these cd s when transporting school children especially.
