The Canefield Urban Council has introduced a 40 percent cut on house and land taxes, effective January 1, 2010.

Residents are asked to take advantage of this opportunity and visit the Council’s office to settle their accounts.

Tax cutting is in the benefit of the residents, keeping more money in their pockets and allowing a substantial savings. They now have the opportunity to come in and settle their accounts at a reduced rate.

This is a good opportunity for persons to get up to date. If Canefield City Council is able to do that, why can’t Roseau City Council do the same. Just a few weeks ago I was in the office of the Roseau City Council and I posed that question. That would encouraged person to come and settle.

is this a permanent tax rate reduction, or just a reduction in the amount owed?
