Consultations for trade expo to be held

Registe

Organizers of the 10th Annual Caribbean Week of Agriculture are expected to consult with the newly formed Dominica Manufactures Association and the Dominica Association of Industry and Commerce to discuss the staging of a grand trade expo carded for October.

This year Dominica is the host country of the 10th Annual Caribbean Week of Agriculture which runs from October 9th to 15th and a trade expo is expected to be part of the initiative.

Program Coordinator Ed Registe says all relevant stake holders will be engaged during the process.

“We intend to consult with them, they have just been formed and while you have the manufactures focusing on a wide range of products, some of them might not be agriculturally related,” he said.

He said all of the relevant stakeholders will be engaged in the preparation process.

The week of activities, which is expected to bring close to 300 foreign nationals to the island, is expected to provide a forum for discussions towards the review of present agricultural policies in the region.

Correction he did work with the ministry og Agriculture around 1996-1998. He was based out of the Grandbay Agric Station.. He used to be the officer for Dubique, Stowe, Bagatelle, I think.

I hope this ‘ expo’ involves the grass roots organizations island wide and addresses the concerns of all farmers. You see it is one thing to have a grand affair fir one week but on the other hand, when the curtain rolls up… What is being done to improve the life of farmers and the industry in DA?

it is my desire to see an expo which involves a wide cross section of the agro- processors and the manufacturing sector. i encourage all stakeholders to participate in this event and use this as an opportunity to showcase their products. i would also like the bureau of standards to take this opportunity to sensitize stakeholders on the role, functions and activities of the bureau. The national labelling standards for eg should be highlighted especially to local producers who find it difficult to conform.

Useless people in political position. How do we expect efficiency when people are not held responsible for the task they are asigned. Who is going to fire a mouth piece of the party in power.
