Dominican launches new magazine

Cover of the first issue of the new publication

A new business publication – The Analyst, has been launched by St Lucian-based Dominican Kareem Guiste.

Guiste, who describes himself as an enterprising young entrepreneur, is the founder and Managing Director of Finance, Accounting and Business Consulting Incorporated (FAB CONSULTING, Inc.).

He describes his brainchild as “a business-oriented magazine that captures the essence of commercial activities across various sectors” in the Eastern Caribbean.

“It is a non-biased, cross industry, cross sector, OECS business magazine which aims to educate and inspire readers via informative and creatively-written articles that appeal to readers of various disciplines, interests and fields,” he said.

According to the publisher, The Analyst’s coverage spans sectors throughout the Eastern Caribbean, creating a portal for industry analysis, insight, and plans for future investments.

“The idea for the magazine came to me when I realized there was a void in information available regarding a number of activities affecting the various sectors, and a need for the same, that would highlight the Caribbean’s economies and create an environment for discourse, learning and sharing,”  Guiste said.

The magazine is okay. Checked website out and you must improve on the sentence structure issues(long run on sentences), correct placing of commas and correct tense!

Excellent coverpage! I need one of the magazines, how do i obtain?

Hate the coverpage and actually thought the owner should have been the one opening the magazine since he’s an analyst himself. I don’t know this guy on there and what’s his purpose? I’m just people have to be able to relate to the mag. Alot of Dominicans aren’t financial experts so many won’t buy the magazine just so. The way to bring people in especially Dominicans is to provide a cover for which they can relate and say hey ” I’m going to buy this every week”! But hey that’s my opinion.

He’s Kareem Guiste not Oprah! Why you want him to put an image of himself on the cover?

And for your info the guy on the cover worked for many years at NAGICO here. More people can relate than you think.

Secondly , the magazine is intended for a regional audience not only is it aimed at Dominican readers.

Your points about sentence structure and run-ons are however, valid.

Remember he is based in St. Lucia, so probably its a St Lucian there on the coverpage, but i respect yoru opinion and supports that kareem should be on cover page. yup

Robin, what is your scene nuh. First the magazine is ‘ok’ then the sentence structure is bad, now you hate the cover! Don’t get me wrong, contructive criticism is great but seriously though? Umm, lets start off with, is there anything at all that u like about the magazine? How about encouraging Mr. Guiste in a positive way instead being obviously negative…smdh!

The Editorial Board of The Analyst consists of four creative and skilled minds from Dominica and Saint Lucia. The founder, given his keen eye for business went beyond just producing a printed version of the business magazine by simultaneously launching a website and an electronic version of The Analyst.

The Analyst is a product of The Analyst Publishing, a subsidiary of FAB CONSULTING, Inc.

Copies of the magazine are currently available in the Commonwealth of Dominica and St. Lucia, and will soon be available in Antigua, Grenada, St. Kitts and Nevis, and St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Congratulations are in order for this young man, but i have one word of advice for him – focus on digital media, for print media is in its dying throes. Focus on bringing your news to the laptops, desktops, iPad’s, emails, etc etc of folks interested in your product. If you go fully into print, you will be out of business soon.

I’m all for saving the trees but the focus here is on a prominent young Dominican taking it to the next level. Positive indeed. All the best my brother.

Once the content has been established digital publishing is a no-brainer. Besides we are not that into tablets in the OECS. Just check facebook all you see is “via BlackBerry”…lol..

      April 30, 2012

It’s not a failed effort. Actually I believe with a few substractions and additions to the magazine it could be successful. The islands where this will be distributed aren’t as techy forward as other places. What the owner needs to do is add topics that will gain ordinary Dominican or local readers. Example: housing, personal finances etc. I hope it’s focus isn’t just about business type investments for business oriented people.
