DOWASCO tight-lipped on annual general meeting

The country may have to wait a little while before it can find out whether DOWASCO – the Dominica Water and Sewerage Company – made a profit or a loss over the past year.

DOWASCO’s general manager Bernard Ettinoffe has confirmed that the company held its annual general meeting on Wednesday.

However he declined to give information on how DOWASCO performed, suggesting that the company’s report has to be tabled in the Dominica parliament before it can be made public.

Etinnoffe also referred Dominica News Online to the Minister responsible for DOWASCO, Housing Minister Reginald Austrie.

Austrie’s Ministry said he was not available on Thursday, the day put aside by government parliamentarians for constituency business.

DOWASCO says on its website that “to provide our customers with affordable potable water and sewerage services, DOWASCO has invested millions of dollars to upgrade and maintain our existing water and sewerage systems and installed new water systems because we believe that this is necessary for modern, comfortable and healthy lifestyles”.

profit or loss, we want our new water system in Bense. Let the govt. do what they have to do and get things started.

I totally agree. I am aware of the condition of the Bense/ Ans Du Mai water system(intake/reservoir) and it does really need to upgrade or a new system built. For a country with so many rivers and so much water it is a shame that we sometimes have to settle for water of very poor quality.

I’m not interested in their AGM. I want to know why every morning Goodwill and Pottersville have no water for a whole week now. It is very frustrating.
