The money-lending organization, known to Vincentians as Cash Express, has changed its name to Fast Cash and has moved its services from Halifax Street to Bay Street in the Sprotts’s Building.
The company’s re-launch took place last Friday at their new base.
Journeying to St. Vincent and the Grenadines for the occasion was the Southern Caribbean’s Manager for Fast Cash, Michael Archibald. Archibald has responsibility for the Fast Cash branches in SVG and Grenada.
Speaking to the media, he said that the re-launching of Fast Cash was done because the company is known by this name in the other countries that they operate in: St. Lucia, Grenada, Dominica, and Antigua.
“We are now bringing it under the same name as the other islands so that it will be known everywhere and we are also changing the office as the first office was too small,” Archibald said.
Describing the service being offered by Fast Cash locally for the last three years, Archibald said that they offer “loans against salaries as people always need assistance with cash to do small things”. He added that persons sometimes seek help with, among other things, medical or school expenses.
“We offer emergency loans for any expense that pops up; we provide people with the funds to do that based against their salary,” Archibald added.
He said that small loans of up to EC$6,000 are offered. “We operate very quickly, much faster than the banks and we have been doing very well,” he noted.
Persons needing the small loans can go to Fast Cash where, if they meet a number of requirements (steady employment for a number of years among them), they can get a same-day loan approved. The money is given via a cash card that can be used at any automatic teller machine (ATM).
When asked about the company’s loan default levels during this hard economic period, Archibald said: “In any climate like this compliance falls but ours have been very good; it is not as bad as we would have expected. Yes people have been struggling a bit but it is not nowhere near as bad as we had anticipated.
“We have been doing pretty good; we are quite happy and looking forward to doing more business as we are determined to expand the size of the operations here. If you have an emergency, we would act fast. You will get the money quickly within one day while most of the other financial institutions take longer; if you have a problem and you are steadily employed and need a few thousand dollars come to Fast Cash,” he explained.
The company employs five persons.
The re-launch saw performances by Madzart and the Mad Symphony and contestant number 12. Customers were also treated to cocktails.
