Job classification within public service coming

Letang

A new initiative to be undertaken by government is expected to guide the next round of salary negotiations between the Public Service Union and the government of Dominica.

It will be in the form of  job classification exercise within the public service and will get underway soon.

General Secretary of the Public Service Union Thomas Letang says speedy implementation of the exercise is necessary.

“My understanding is that the Job Classification exercise has not started but we are hoping to have some discussion with government because we were supposed to have a salary increase as of last year. We were told that this was supposed to have started some months ago. They have completed the audit but not the classification. We had indicated that we would have continued negotiations pending the outcome of the classification exercise and it’s a little troublesome because that have not started,” he said.
