In the face of reliability issues against its Quickpack and passenger services, LIAT says it will “guarantee” delivery of shipments through its new ‘Liatcargo’ service.
This is the reassurance given by Wilbur Edwards, LIAT’s director of ground operations, Cargo and Quikpak.
LIAT is popular among the Caribbean people, not for its quality service, but rather its lack thereof and the ground operations director says LIAT understands that Dominicans suffer significantly from issues relating to passenger airlift and baggage delivery.
Regarding the issue of the shipment of goods, Edwards assured that this “scheduled service” will be more dependable since an aircraft will be dedicated entirely to the service, and complemented by passenger planes.
He said requests for package delivery could be placed online and the local agent, Millennium Freight Service, will then follow through with these requests.
“This is an entirely different service. Perhaps at a later stage we may offer a different Quickpack service in addition to the service that we have now, where like other major courier companies they offer larger packages with less urgency as opposed to smaller packages requiring delivery overnight,” Edwards said.
@Abby: i DON’T THINK YOU EVER TRAVEL WITH ANY OTHER CARRIER, DOMINICANS JUST SOUND SOO GHETTO ON AIRLINE ISSUES.
Liat needs to improve their baggage service…its despicable the way the airline treats people’s possesion. They also need more responsible workers who will treat liats valued passengers belongings as they would expect their own to be treated. It’s been 3 years to this date im waiting for some form of compensation from this unreliable airline, and all they’ve been feeding me is rubbish for payment for my loss.
Start by being more carefull with people’s valuables then we will talk about good service from liat…live island at anytime time….
@MadTETE: I’m sure that it’ll be like DHL or FEDEX , it will be delivered in good time. I believe that LIAT will be better able to advise where your packages are and you will be able to trace it as well. That’s what I call a guarantee, please read the news and undersdtand, no one is perfect.
No more “long talk”. Want to know the rates. Then we can debate the merits or not.
IT IS GOOD THAT LIAT IS TRYING TO IMPROVE BUT FIRST THEY NEED TO CLEAN UP THE MESS WITH THE LOST BAGGAGE SITUATION. BAGGAGES HAVE BEEN VANISHING WITHOUT A TRACE. HOW CAN IT BE POSSIBLE TO CHECK IN YOUR LUGGAGE, IT WAS TAGED AND THEN IT NEVER ARRIVE TO IT DESTINATION. I AM A VICTIM OF LOST BAGGAGE TWICE ON LIAT. TRAVELING FROM SXM TO DA WITH TRANSIT IN ANTIGUA……THE LUGGAGE WAS NEVER FOUND. DID IT GOT CAUGHT UP IN THE RAPTURE????????? FIRST THEY LOST YOUR LUGGAGE THEN THEY PAY YOU WHAT THEY WANT AFTER 4 MONTHS OF CLAIM. I HEARD THAT ANTIGUA HAS A HABIT OF STEALING PEOPLE STUFF, IF THIS IS TRUE THEY NEED TO STOP IT. LIAT NEED TO CHANGED ALL THEIR BAGGAGE HANDELING PERSONNEL.
Liate Guarantee is a strong word. I hope you can live up to that. If any of my packages are not delivered as at the speedy and convenient time promised I will challenge that Guarantee.
LIAT is improving finally, I have noticed them for the last 6 months and they are getting on target, something changed. Keep up the good work what ever you guys are doing.
