Marpin appoints CFO

Calvin Patrick, Marpin's new CFO

PRESS RELEASE: After an extensive search for a Chief Financial Officer, Marpin has found the individual it was looking for in the person of our very own son of the soil, Calvin Patrick.

Mr. Patrick brings diverse and international business experience to Marpin.  His expertise includes accounting and finance; management of information systems and IT and research and planning for telecommunications infrastructure and services.

He has held senior level managerial positions including Financial Controller, Farah Europe S.A. the European subsidiary of El Paso, Texas based Farah International; Management Accountant, Pickwick International, London, England; Manager of Information Systems United States Coast Guard, Governors Island, New York and Information Technology Consultant to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, Long Island Rail Road, New York.

Walter Maude, Marpin’s General Manager, said, “We could not have found a better fit in Calvin.  A lot of care and thought went into selecting the right person for this job because of where Marpin is now and where we are going to take this Company.  It was, therefore, a long search for us but the wait has paid off because we’ve found the perfect person, someone who has the financial background and expertise but also with extensive knowledge of IT and telecommunications.”

As a staff consultant at Caribiss Inc. in Roseau, Dominica, Mr. Patrick was a key contributor to the regional process funded by the World Bank that led to the liberalization and demonopolization of telecoms in the Caribbean basin.  He provided research for a Canadian International Development Agency program for the development of a reproducible island-wide broadband network with interconnections to submarine fiber and satellite communications as well as implementing Ethernet Radio backhaul.

Mr. Patrick was recently a featured consultant at an “International Symposium on e-Government” sponsored by the Taiwan International Cooperation and Development Fund in conjunction with Taiwan Network Information Center.  TWNIC is the organization in charge of Taiwan’s domain Name registration and IP address allocation.  He has provided consultancy services at Moody’s Investors Service, New York, KeySpan/National Grid, and Alcan Packaging.  He is currently an Adjunct Professor at the School of Business, Public Administration and Information Science at Long Island University, New York where he lectures on Management Information Systems.

Yes, Marpin does need to concentrate on reception quality (to me, worse than during receivership) and explain the poor quality signals.
