Telecommunication and cable company, MARPIN 2K4 Ltd, is reassuring it customers that despite “recent event in the news” it is determined to remain “fully operational and with ever-improving prospects for the medium and long term.”

However, in a release, the company said short term challenges remain, noting that with “continued understanding” of key partners, they can be overcome.

Last Friday news broke that DOMLEC had disconnected services to Marpin’s studio at Morne Daniel after the company reportedly fail to pay a huge $1.7-million electricity bill.

In the wake of DOMLEC’s action, the company’s general manager, Perickson Isidore, was given walking papers by the board of directors.

But according to Marpin, “by mutual agreement” it “has been has been paying and remains up-to-date on payments covering all current monthly electricity consumption.”

“We accept that Marpin, in respect of the ealier accrued debt, has not yet been financially able to satisfy the electricity provider’s not unreasonable demands for a start in reducing this,” the company said in its release.

It went on to say, “It was precisely to reach the required financially-secure position to enable such debt reduction that MARPIN’s Board and senior management have been constantly exploring ways to reduce the cost of operations, without having to reduce the superior service being provided to our growing customer base. We remain proud of the MARPIN staff’s creativity and innovation with new programming along with continuing improvements in our Channel 5 news, related current events coverage – and better facilitation of our valued advertisers.”

The company said it is satisfied with upgrading works both in terms of technical and customer service experience. “The company is satisfied with its efforts in upgrading the technical operations and for our enhanced customer experience to the extent that we currently have the highest number of subscribers ever for our core cable television operations. We continue to build a solid base with our provision of package internet and phone services,” it said.

The company said its board of directors “will continue to take all prudent steps to put the company in a strong financial position so that it can ultimately clear all outstanding debt while maintaining staff morale and an expanded and enhanced customer experience.”

    Whats paper view ? :-D

Is this the same person who looking for a escape goat ? :-D

    Thanks for the laugh anyway.

On Marpin, unfortunately when you are dealing with a small country and overselling, yes, overselling content to customers who really cannot afford to pay the real price for what they have, you are asking for trouble.

Maybe if Marpin did collapse or got priced properly and Dominicans watched less TV and got to actually speak to each other rather than about each other, the country might get better.

    But, that is a pipedream.

No people, not a piping hot dream. a pipedream.

Upon close scrutiny of this press release something intentionally comes to mind… what was the true reason for the quick dismissal of Mr. Isidore as GM after hearing that “by mutual agreement” it “has been has been paying and remains up-to-date on payments covering all current monthly electricity consumption.” Job well done General Manager!!! but something not adding up because the press release further stating that “We accept that Marpin, in respect of the ealier accrued debt, has not yet been financially able to satisfy the electricity provider’s not unreasonable demands for a start in reducing this,” It is left to wonder was Mr. Isidore the GM when that bill was accrued and what percentage of that 1.7 million bill under his management was actually accrued, but again the release states that “It was precisely to reach the required financially-secure position to enable such debt reduction that MARPIN’s Board and senior management have been constantly exploring ways to reduce the cost of operations, without having to reduce the superior service being provided to our growing customer base.” Looks like somebody was not proud of Mr. Isidore’s creativity and innovation!! in addressing ways to constantly reduce overheads, and yet still a line is echoed to the effect that “The company is satisfied with its efforts in upgrading the technical operations and for our enhanced customer experience to the extent that we currently have the highest number of subscribers ever for our core cable television operations. We continue to build a solid base with our provision of package internet and phone services,” It begs to wonder if the GM at the time was not instrumental in these corporate achievements..and the eyes keep watching.

    2. Who told the to carry Miss World 2013 live without “paper view”, when the country could not afford it?

    3. Who keeps interning their Business to create damage?
