NBD hosts second Merchant Seminar

The seminar in progress

The National Bank of Dominica Ltd. (NBD) conducted its second Merchant Operating and Risk Management Seminar at the Krazy Koconut on Thursday 19th June 2011.

The bank first introduced this kind of seminar to Dominica in August 2008.  Michael Bird, NBD’s General Manager, welcomed the participants, while presenters from the Caribbean Credit Card Corporation (4C’s), Kristy Stanley and Janiere Frank and NBD’s Credit Card Department, Samantha Alexander and Larry Cambran educated participants on how to avoid falling victim to fraud and operational procedures.

The Merchants were presented on a number of areas including: Card Acceptance Procedures and best practices, Limiting Exposure to Fraudulent Transactions and what to do if you Suspect Fraud.

Mr. Bird invited the Merchants to join NBD in creating a safer environment by encouraging the use of cards at business places in an effort to move to a cashless society.  He also expressed the importance of the seminar by noting the increase in various types of fraud globally and stressed that the bank as well as merchants should be equipped to mitigate credit card fraud and the incurring of immeasurable losses.
