Renovation and extension works on the main branch of the National Cooperative Credit Union (NCCU), located on Independence Street in the Roseau, is expected to be completed within a few month’s time.
Chief Executive Officer at the National Cooperative Credit Union (NCCU), Alymer Irish, told the media on Monday 20th April 2015 that the project is in its final stages.
“Currently we are on the final phase in that we have just commenced the preparations for the cladding works on the outside of the building,” he said, “It is estimated that within the next four months the cladding works will be completed.”
He revealed that internal works at the institution are 99 per cent completed.
Cladding works is the application of one material over another to provide skin or layer intended to control the infiltration of weather elements, or for aesthetic purposes.
Irish said the cladding process was chosen because of its low maintenance works and a 25 year guarantee.
The total costing of the project was not revealed.
Irish also that the upgrade works was born out of need.
“There was a great need to provide sufficient floor space for staff and the members doing business,” he noted.
“As you are well aware, this Credit Union is the largest in Dominica and the largest in the sub region,” he said. “In excess of 37,000 members, on a daily basis, the floor space was insufficient to serve the members and therefore we had a crowded environment and that was the primary reason for the extension and the renovation of the building.”
Great! NCCU, My Financial Institution!
It is a good thing but the best thing the credit union should do is to add interests to people’s saving accounts ,,in order for this bank to be more attractive and prosperous..It makes no sence to save money which does not make any interest…if it is not done yet that should be the second step//
I hope it’s wheel chair accessible.
Finally… Can’t wait to see
