New Vieille Case Village Council chairman outlines plans for 2017

Yoland Jno Jules is new Chairman of the Vieille Case Village Council

Incoming Chairman of the Vieille Case Village Council, Yoland John Jules, has outlined a number of plans that are set to be implemented in 2017, saying there is a need to “unclench our fists and build new relationships to move the community forward together.”

He presented the plans at the 27 Inaugural Meeting of the council on January 9, placing emphasis on local economic development, tourism within the community, and capacity building and training.

Relative to local development, John Jules said that the establishment of short term rentals and cottage resorts are on the list.

“We need to prepare ourselves for when people come so we can house them overnight,” he said, referring to local and foreign visitors.

Along with new rent housing, the revamping of the farming aspect of Vieille Case is one of the priorities set under the category of local economic development in the community.

“We have a lot of farmlands. Vieille Case used to be one of the keen producers of vegetables,” he stated.

Under the development of community tourism, plans include a beach front clean up, development and maintenance of the Waitukubuli National Trail and the upgrading of the track used for access to the Bois Neff waterfall.

A number of short courses that aim towards the goal of capacity building and training will also be introduced. These include handcraft, sewing, catering, cake making and decorating, and small business development.

A proposal for a “state of the art resource center” was presented to the Prime Minister and Minister of Finance and MP for the area, Roosevelt Skerrit who was present at the Inaugural meeting.

John Jules also promised the members of the audience and the villagers by extension that the council will aim towards the betterment of the community.

“I want to promise that the sole aim of the council is to work in tandem with the Parliamentary Representative, other groups, and individuals to bring back the community to where it was before, and even further,” he remarked.

Yoland is all about blah, blah, blah and more blah, blah. A snake-under-grass, you know! A wanna-be, too!! If you think I lying, ask the people at Courts [Unicomer], and the management of the Public Works Corporation. He is a busy-buddy; friends to all but loyal to no one. Mark my word, Yoland will be in the news very frequently as he tries to take the spotlight and remain relevant in the eyes of the PM.

Well observed. A man who’s opinion of himself outweigh his competences and not a comrade to be trusted when the smelly stuff really hits the fan.

I don’t understand the Bible and red comments. Being a Christian does not mean one cannot participate in politics, as Christians are members of the society. There are and were several Christians, including elders of churches who were on UWP’s political platform..at least in the past.

I agree with you up to a point. Religion and politics mix like oil and water and that is why our constitution expressly bars ministers of religion from holding political office. What is anathema to me is the use of religious (so called “holy”) scriptures whether it be the bible, koran , tora or similar tracts, for the advancement of political dogma, agendas or justification of deeds that are clearly in contravention of basic natural justice and human rights. Such subterfuge has lead to more deadly conflicts than anything I care to remember. History is full of such “holy wars” that only bring misery to mankind. My advice, keep the bible out of political presentations. there are other fora for that.

What is up with all these red shirts? If I owned a clothing store in Dominica I would stock up on red shirts…I know they would be sold out!!! The devil is often depicted in the color red…is that a coincidence? Red is also the color of blood…it often scares people and bull cattle (some claim). Alix Boyd Knight claimed that it’s you’re either red or dead in Dominica…what on earth does that mean? Anyway, all my red clothes are currently dirty and instead of washing them I might just throw them away. I don’t want anyone to believe I’ve joined a cult. Plus, I’m afraid that red is becoming very unpopular especially in the last few days.

Yoland, you and Skerrit should be ashamed of yourselves in this statement: “We have a lot of farmlands. Vielle Case used to be one of the keen producers of vegetables,” he stated. See what I mean. I believe that you have been very critical of Skerrit as a failure, one who has failed the people of Vielle Case. So, is it true, nous ka Twavay…….or nou ka Voleur? Shameful, disgusting.
Not too long ago I visited Vielle Case, Thibaud and Penville, and the state of these villages is sickening and shameful on Skerrit. …and you too. Your guys are disgusting.

People like swallow really hurting Christianity and the Bible. These, double-tongued so called Christians give people the impression that the Bible is just another story book. Here is he dressed in red, with Bible on the altar but when it was time for him to come and lie about citizenship he did so with no hesitation. Swallow, you and rest of preachers cause DA to be what it is today because like Bubbles all you lied to exalt wrong. No wonder Christianity is worse than the Catholic Church you all use to criticize. As a preacher, seeing how Dominica is so divided, if you really cared about Bible, you would try to unite the people instead of using political color. That reminds of another boaster preacher from your area who decorated a Pentecostal church in red and he too dressed in red suite in possiie after the 2009 election. But where is he today? A U really hurting Christianity and sadly enough there is no one to correct it because most of you have drunken the wine

These feel like the last few swings from a man who proclaimed that “nobody is sending him back to vielle case!!” like he had some kind of contempt for his own home.

This person in whom this futile attempt is vested had better outshine the character which he is known for.. let us see Mr. Jno Jules, what fiber you are made of. I wish you all the sincere best in your endeavors on behalf of “the vielle case” constituency, may gods good light shine upon you.

First time have I seen an in coming chairperson dressed in his partisan clothes during his inaugural ceremony. That g man thinks he has to dress in red to get favor from Skerrit? First time I see both husband and wife swear in to serve in the same council. Is this thing now a club? Swallow and Skerrit should be so ashamed that during an inaugural ceremony, in the village of the prilme Minister, at a time when they the dlp is selling passport and all cows getting fat, Vielle case does not have a PUblic convenience so men as well as women at the ceremony had to go in bush to peepee, because After all Skerrit, last week you were boasting of having built 124 private toilets in Calibishie and u did not see the need to build a PUblic convenience in Vielle case with our passport money? Sure u built many private toilets in Vielle case and Dominica with passport money; but when we want to kaka or peepee can we go to those toilets u used our tax money to build? U only concern about power

Good Ideas Yoland, i’ll give you that. But your beaming RED SHIRT and matching Tie speaks to a deeper underlying issue of nepotism. Is is because Skerrit was present?..lol..

  20. “We need to prepare ourselves for when people come so we can house them overnight,” he said, referring to local and foreign visitors.”(Yoland).

Yoland, since Skerrit became Prime Minister of Dominica, how many foreign investors do you have on record, who came; invested in Dominica, and stayed.

Name the industry in which they invested, and what part of the country the invisibles are located. You need to stop hallucinating, unless you are getting to house the foreign investors like Raphael, Lawrence, and company who are foreign investors born in Dominica

Guy you are mad! Anyway I see you are not too optimistic; at lease you enough commonsense to say “when people come.” When is timeless, they might as come, in the future, or never at all!

Yoland, you are supposed to be representing all villagers, not just the followers of one party only. We know that you are a loyal servant of Roosevelt Skerrit and that is your choice but don’t let that colour your views. Wearing that all red at the inauguration sends the wrong signal my man, something neutral would have been better.

So why you have to dress in Red? This place is just so BLUE/RED that people fail to think outside the frame of reference of BLUE and RED.
