“Pay your loans” – Blackmoore to government critics

Blackmoore

Public Works Minister Rayburn Blackmoore wants individuals critical of the Roosevelt Skerrit administration to honor their obligations to local financial institutions.

Blackmoore said a group of Dominicans calling themselves ‘patriots,’ should pay their bank loans and overdue taxes.

“It cannot be a person who believes they have a right not to pay the people of Dominica million of dollars, not to pay banks and then they call themselves patriots,” he said.

Blackmoore said those criticizing government are the one ripping off the people of Dominica.

“You need to investigate that and see who the persons are saying these things,” he added.

If Blackmore believe by trying to get to those who are speaking out about what is going on in DOMINICA and what the Government is doing to Dominica and Dominicans is to insult them on a personal level regarding their financial debts is the lowest and it’s a personal attact what else will these guys do to stop the people from listening to the Talk Shows especially BETWEEN YOU AND ME and that’s why I do believe that the heat is on they are loosing the attention of the people they are thinking for themselves they do not have that hold on them any more so they have to try to discredit all those that are bringing truth to justice, I stand by the PATRIOTS and mayby it’s time that we should know all their is to know about the other ministers in the cabin not just Skeritt alone Blackmore just open the door so all journalist should feel fee to dig turn the spotlight on them.

Shame on you Blackmore!! Your behavior proves that you are not fit to hold public office. I can’t believe that people voted you into office, in fact, your type prey on the ignorant and stupid. You are an embarrassment to Dominica.
The people who are owing taxes and are behind on their loans are not fleecing the country; have their siblings in high positions in the Public Service while they are the minister in charge; are able to get undeserved duty free concessions, victimizing workers and are less than transparent in their positions!!
Blackmore you are riding for a fall! the higher the monkey climbs the more it exposes its behind. The same people you pass on your way up are the same people you will pass your way Down!! You have to embarrass yourself so badly that you yourself will have to take your bundle and go!!

I have a very important question; how does a minister of government have access to information such as who owes financial institutions and are not paying? Is that an admission of people not honouring their ‘Oath of Secrecy’ when working at a financial institution? I can understand if he knows who owes the government, but how does he know who is in default at a bank? I can only imagine that nothing in this country is safe.

On the flip side of this, Mr. Blackmoore isn’t it nice to be able to pay your loans every month? A lot of us cannot say the same thing.

There are those who call themselves patriots, but yet cant show anything for it. The government, through tax payers money provide them with assistance to develop their enterprise, some refuse to pay back, yet criticize the government and complain about everything. So what stay mute? Those guys should be exposed. “IF YOU LIVE IN GLAS HOUSE DONT THROW STONES”

How many business ideas you have for Dominica?

I don’t mean big business-Small business that could employ about 1-5 people.
The way I see it, I have three small businesses in my mind to open in Dominica. They are simple ideas that I think will generate a small profit and employ about 15 people.

There currently are none of these businesses on the island so it will not infringe on an existing local business.

We talk about the Government this and that and they should create jobs, but pardon me when I say some of us, not all, but some of us are too DAMN Lazy. Too Damn Lazy!

A man can leave all the way from Haiti and come to Dominica start planting and take his produce to Market to sell to feed his family. The Government did not create the Job for him; he did it on his own. He filled a void and now that same man now has the Market Open all days of the week.
If I am wrong then I apologize, but I doubt it.

We should all pay our loans too…he is right. Too many big boys on Radio disparaging the Prime Minister and others and getting personal, yet when he sends out a salvo…we crying….Election comes in 2 years.

I think it is high time that our esteem Ministers and other people who hold offices of importance in Dominica start acting like professuonal and educated people. I am fed up with Ministers embarrassing me and the people they represnt with their lack of education and gutter politics. It is high time you all get out off that nonsense. It is not everything the opposition say you have to reply too. Blackmore you have been in politics too long to be speaking like a 4th grader. I would advise you all to go and educate yourselfs in the art of public speaking, get an advicer and someone to write your speeches before opening your mouth. Frankly I am ashamed to read some of the comments of some Ministers and oppisiton members. Please Ministers of Government take politics in Dominica to another level please. Let it start with you all. Think before you open your mouth. Write it first, then read it out loud to yourself before you take it to the public and the WORLD WIDE WEB.

The Government and the Banks need to deal with everyone or every organisation that owe them be it tax or loan but DNO is not the forum for this matter. When I say deal not deal with those that do not support you only but everyone one of them be it your brother, best friend or enemy. You all must be partial when dealing with this matter. Let Dominicans and others see that the Labour Government stand for something, intergrity, honesty and fairness.

I’ll make a couple of observations here.

    1. If these individuals or companies are owing the government, then it behoved the necessary government department(s) to try to collect said monies owning. If they do not have the ability to pay, it remains a liability that the government can claim at any time those funds become available.

    2. If he is referring to companies, again the government has the means to collect that money, privided the companies are profitable. If they are not, then he may want to question why they aren’t. It could be the result of poor management, but it could also be because of a poor economy, which by the way, the government has some control over.

Either way, he is better off to keep his mouth shut because these statements are very unbecoming of a minister of government. These guys are too petty for the positions that they hold. Typical banana republic mentality.

It is easy for Mr Blackmore to come out and say those things because he and his fellow cabinet members are the ones swimming in butter. It does not mean that because someone defaulted on a loan that this person is non patriotic. A true and honorable minister would assess the economic situation in Dominica first before making those comments. It is the constitutional right of every Dominican to freedom of speech and that does not exclude people who have defaulted on their loans.
Is that the mantra of this administration – to stifle free speech by any means necessary. We heard the same thing from the PM on the Tony Astaphan radio show-the humiliation of former PM Patrick John and other Dominicans who have received assistance from government established programs ( Not Skerrit or Labor party programs). This type of behavior is shameful and abhorrent.

You guys have such double standards. There are big people and companies in Dominica that haven’t paid taxes for years and inland revenue can’t touch them because of they’re ties to government, yet you dere telling poor malaway dat struggling to pay their taxes…
