Pre-paid electricity now available remotely via telephone

Ducreay

A new initiative, birthed out of a collaboration between DOMLEC and the National Cooperative Credit Union (NCCU), will offer customers of both entities the ability to purchase pre-paid power remotely via telephone.

The new feature will be added to NCCU’s Credit Union Call (CuCALL) system, which affords members access to their account information, that already includes a range of similar services.

Speaking at the launching of the event, earlier this morning, President of the NCCU Dexter Ducreay called the system pioneering and said that it would be beneficial to all parties involved.

“On July 15, we entered into an agreement with DOMLEC that would allow our members to purchase power for their pre-paid meters via telephone at their convenience. We are adding this feature so that you can purchase power anywhere in the world from any phone. This is the first initiative of its kind in Dominica and we are proud to be the pioneers working in collaboration with DOMLEC,” Ducreay said.

According to DOMLEC’s Commercial Manager, Nathaniel George, the company has some 10,000 prepaid customers, representing about 40% of it’s customer base and through this initiative is aiming to serve it’s customers more completely.

The system is currently available to all NCCU members who are also DOMLEC Pay-As-You-Go customers.

$20.00 ELECTRICITY LASTING 4 DAYS IS A JOKE. MY AVERAGE DAILY USAGE WENT FROM $5.00 TO $10.00 WITH NO ADDED APPLIANCE.

Is nccu using members resource to further the intersert of a corporate entity? Shame. People want better interest rates not this nonsense. NCCU is no longer a cooperative its now a ripoff it is getting as rotten as the national bank which is no longer a national bank.

@PIV, I fully understand your concerns about having affordable and reliable electricity, that is the wish of us all. The idea of pay as you go and the option to purchase by phone is what drew my attention. But I must agree there has to be an “added” benefit for the consumer.

Laughable! This may be a major achievement for Domlec but Dominicans are appalled that electricity in DA has come to this, because Domlec has missmanaged it, making it unaffordable for the people.

When 40% of this electric company is prepaid power, Domlec has only taken Dominica down to athe level of Haiti where this type of service is the norm. We need to nationalize Domlec and send their management packing.

Ducreay, my friend: This is not progress. Dumlec knows that it is insult to injury. The Dominican public have been injured by that company due to their inability to make electricity affordable. To stoop so low as to be offering people pay-as-you go only means the company has failed.

Next thing is to boast that they have made electricity available to us 4 days a week and we should be happy for their great achievement, because of the options they offer us: Mondays, thursdays and Saturdays; or Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

And the person who commented as “MP. Romain Laville”, St. Marten will not stoop that low. Your electric company has achieved affordable electricity, even without the option of hydro, and rolling black outs. not Dumlec. That’s a retarded 4th-world company.

AD MAssive consider joining the NCCU. Credit Unions are great institutions to belong to. home grown and owned by the members/customers.

This is a great initiative for the island of Dominica. It is this kind of initiative that I will also bring to Parliament of St. Maarten. As the first west Indian, Dominican born in St. Maartens Parliament I am proud to look at your achievements.

Prepaid electricity for those who have accounts at the credit union, and you can do it anywhere in the world . Wow. This is a conflict of interest, Dominicans need to go independent, and should go solar, get your power from the sun and a little configuration. It is so easy, and cheaper long run.

Mr. Ducreay, if I am to understand you well, are you saying that the service is available to only persons who have accounts at NCCU? It’s a positive move in the right direction. However, in the last sentence of this report, the word “currently’ surfaces. Are we now to believe that in the not too distant future, persons who hold accounts at other banking institutions will soon be able to benefit from that, if discussions already exist with them? If that is the case then I will say it like addidas; JUST DO IT!

Mr. Ducreay is representing the NCCU and as such speaks of services which his customer base are afforded.

it is up to Mr George to say if they are going to be working with other banking institutions to provide a similar service
