SAT Telecommunications Ltd, Dominica’s only local cable TV provider, will launch a number of its new digital services in commemoration of its 10th anniversary.
Our digital services will be launched under the brand names SAT TV, SAT NET, SAT TEL with the theme ‘POWERUPX3’ on Wednesday, November 10, 2010, giving all Dominicans the opportunity to receive affordable and quality telecommunication services.
POWERUPX3 will provide Dominicans with an affordable package which will include SAT NET – internet, SAT TV – Cable television and SAT TEL – telephone.
With SAT Telecommunications Ltd having the largest fiber network on the island, SAT Net will offer five different packages to SAT’s customers.
Customers who sign up for SAT TEL will have the privilege of calling other SAT customers for FREE, while taking advantage of low-cost international calls using VOIP.
SAT Telecommunications Ltd is also assuring customers that while they are introducing these new services, the fee for the service that they are receiving now will remain the same, $46 including VAT.
Chief Executive Officer of SAT Telecommunications Ltd Marlon Alexander said that the launching of these new services is in keeping with the company’s mission to provide “quality and affordable telecommunication service to ALL Dominicans and not just a selected few”.
“Once these services are introduced, internet prices will drop by half and universal access and services will be affordable,” Alexander said.
The digital services (TRIPLE PLAY), which is a first for Dominica, will be available to all customers with immediate effect. SAT Telecommunications Ltd has recently upgraded their coverage and currently covers 80 percent of the island, with the remaining 20 percent to be completed by early 2011.
This giant step by SAT Telecommunications Ltd has brought technology to Dominica to another level as the venture falls in line with the government’s bid to ensure that ALL Dominicans can comfortably afford cable TV, telephone and internet Service, regardless of their location, budget or viewing preference.
The official launching ceremony of the new digital services by SAT Telecommunications Ltd will be held at 7 pm at the Marquis Lounge at Fort Young Hotel on Wednesday, November 10, 2010, under the auspices of the President of Dominica H.E Dr. Nicholas J.O Liverpool and Mrs Liverpool.
The event will be carried live by SAT Telecommunications Ltd and local radio stations.
SAT you need to get Collywood on your network..look how that new Channel has blown up on Marpin 13. Why is Collywood not on SAT
so we gotta get cable boxes now? the package price staying the same.. but we gotta rent equiipment ot buy it…. and.. what are the different packages. how much are install fees…
I need a brochure..
I am worried about vod (video on Demand) and ppv (pay-per-view) i have a feeling the football, ufc.. generally sports fans shold be worried. if u gotta pay for those events… the pricing aint gonna be cheap.. i know i lived in the us… sometimes one event is 49.99 us….. need more info to know what my decision on which companies are.
@Ron ABRAHAM: i respect you as a man Mr Abraham… I bought your book and i totally respect you. Keep ya head up soldier
OH YES!!!!..SAT is the best always.. i cant wait to have my fibre..all the best to the number1 telecoms company..boom.
@ Don,
Your’re right I should use my personal example to make the case for the awareness of globalization…although thats exactly what I was trying to do. It shouldn’t if am in the red or not, its just an example. My service busniess is nothing to brag about. I should have used the banana industry as a better example. We’ve lost our main stay to other competing companies in the banana business. So when companies are competing in D/A embrace it my friend because there are other friendly communities around the globe.
Good thing SAT! Are you considering the schools also?
Well done guys! It has been a long time coming
Best wishes to SAT for introducing this new triple service to their customers…I feel assured that the cost of telecommunications on the island will be eventually reduced and made more affordable for all Dominicans…way2go SAT…congrats once again…
i used to be with SAT and now i’m with marpin but i think i’m coming back to SAT way to go Marlon
wonderful plan, i definitely commend you on your efforts, however, three things; reliability, quality, and affordable prices, and sir as they would say “you have them in their jacket”. Anyhow best of luck in your endeavours.
Send dem white boyz home. Dominica finally moving forward in Telecommunications
Way to go Boss we holding dem down. (Original Hold Dem)
okay all i want to know is what are the different packages for the internet service, what are the prices and whether it will be stable. Marpin had a good try with a service that was way faster than the packages being offered by lime when you compared them at price but the lack of reliability in the service is a big downfall
Marlon,
I congratulate you in making the breakthrough.
I also agree you are now the only fully local provider.
All the best to SAT.
support local
ppl
@CaribbeanMAn: I agree that ‘Qwashah’ person is quite insulting and that’s uncalled for. Qwashah seems to be too emotional about business, and should welcome foreign investment in Dominica’s economy. However, some foreign owned companies have been insensitive to their customers in Dominicans and have gone overzealous with pricing, which is the reason for so much joy from this announcement.
By the same token we should embrace competition. I wish the companies well and hope they all pass savings to local customers. Remember we were told that a big deal was coming to the caribbean in the form of fibre optic lines running under the sea down the chain of islands, thru a project by …I think…the EU? I stand corrected.
good move sat,i also believe that your office needs a facelift,it is too cuk and block,it needs to be more apealing to us costumers.take this as a constructive criticsim
yes!! yes i SAT tv i’m a customer for many years, now its time to show the others who gonna run tings
yes to SAT tv.keep on the good works
is time we dominicans open ours eyes,we paying to much for telephone and internet bills from the
other companies. i all for SAT tv (long time)
@CaribbeanMAn:
You remind me of a padna I know that does boast plenty about how much businesses he own in and out of Dominica and d best part of the joke d man always owing rent and cards declining like shit when the padna out of DA.
Qwashah,
Your insults is to make you feel better or to insult another? I, for example, owns 100% of my businesses in other countries. May be u have a little understanding of “FIBER OPTIcs, and the likes but your sense of business will carry you or Dominica on the fringe of globalisation. So your misguided statement about, Dominica been the first to be 100% fiber optics “in the world” suppose to give you some value or credit on DNO? The Caribbean is one big rock with a few spots emerging in several areas, we call them “our country,” and I respect that but it should be no barrier for business and business poeple throughout the Caribbean.
Try to own your own business and extend it throughout the Caribbean like many Caribbean poeple do, may be you will understand the whole business concept in a global world.
@Jimmitt: you better find out blood.
oh yes yes yes finally my dream came true. so much wanted our digital services here in d/a to be in packages format. SAT is thinking big and out of the box. so screw lime from Thursday i’, in good thing is SAT TV I’ve.
helo Dominica News Online , i look your blog , this a nice blog and greatly. Best for me. best review for Culture and content. i will often to read and review your site.
woosh! i all up in that internet! i cah wait! hurry up eh sat
Great initiative. I look forward to hearing the reviews on the service quality, support and the packages available.
U done know sat rule.can’t wait to get my net on
@eagles125: I can tell u know… Since sat is digital and using voip they are running things on one line.. This is cool and all but the thing with that is if they don’t have a ups system on the land lines and let’s say “lights go” lol.. Then the phones will not work unless there have a box with batteries or sumn hooked up with the phone… Le landlines can work with n withought “lights” they got their own juice pumping in the phone wires.
This has been in the making for years!!!! Since 2004 I belive. They have done their job. It takes time to perfect this. D/a moving more n more into the technology age. Dominica was the 1st country in the world to be 100% fiber optic. We should have been leading with Internet phone n tv longtime!! It’s them other companies that wanna milk us and then trickle services to us. Thank you SAT. You changing the game as always. Keep it up.
@CaribbeanMAn: idiot a non Dominican owns the majority of marlin so that means it is not localy owned.
Congrats Marlon, wish you every success, just remember to give the customers good service
Is SAT available in all of Jimmitt?
Folks Marpin 2K4 is jointly owned by WRB and the DSS in other words they are 50/50 partners and according to their agreement they both will take turns running the company.
Congrats to Sat
Folks Marpin2k4 ltd is jointly owned by
I coming back home in January, does SAT have more channels than Marpin? WHich foreign company owns Marpin? Is SAT service better than LIME (CAbles)?
I am so happy that sat tv is undertakings this new business venture. Marpin is really not ready yet.Its has been almost 10 years I have being trying to get marpin but to no avail.I am now hoping to hook up with sat.
What does foreign mean, out side of Dominica? There are a lot of Dominicans who work and own stocks, shares and bonds in other islands, but live in Dominica, they are sometimes treated the same way that Dominicans try treating regional investors and business poeple. These islands are going to have to be recognised as one home before we realise effect globalisation and how important it is for the Caribbean basin to set up an interchanagle system of commerce.
We will get there am sure.
well we must all say good bye to marpin they finish.
I IN DAT
Good job Marlon.. You have percevered.
@Chakademus: The majority share holder of Marpin is foreign.
now that is service
@Chakademus: Marpin is currently primarily owned by WRB a foreign based and owned company, so its no longer a fully local company.
Dominica’s only local cable TV provider? What happened to Marpin, I thought they were back…
Hooray for SAT Tv
Am with You always even unto the end of this world
Congratulations to the Management of SAT Telecoms. I look forward to joing the SAT family pretty soon. Much success in your business venture.
Way to go SAT!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have been a SATisfied customer of Cable TV for years now and I can’t wait to
get the internet service.
