Social Security needs prudent management – George

Information Minister Ambrose George is calling for the prudent management of the Social Security scheme.

George represented Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit at the 22nd Meeting of CARICOM Heads of Social Security currently underway in Dominica.

He said one of the ways to ensure that social security schemes improve is to develop prudent investment practices.

George said to be fully effective beneficiaries and constructors should form part of consultation and public education.

“At all times, investment decisions should be made on the basis of the best information available and after having carried out the necessary due diligence,” he said.

According to George, “we must be prudent. We are not insulated from the economic, political and social conditions which impact the way business operate. We must take a cue from the experiences of others, where efforts to obtain high returned ended in major losses.”

Twenty-five (25) participants representing 15 member states and representatives from the Inter-American Conference on Social Security (CISS)—based in Mexico, the CARICOM Secretariat and the Consulting Firm from the United Kingdom are currently in attendance.

The annual meeting is held in a different CARICOM member state.

It brings together the Directors of the Social Security Organizations within the CARICOM sub-grouping to deliberate on pertinent issues affecting these organizations and to explore strategies and approaches for treating with common problems.

This year is being held under the theme “Social Security, striving for continuous improvement”.

Anyway, I am happy I am not a policitician and I do not intend to be one. Ambrose talking about prudent management. Ambrose, how did you manage the monies of the state forwarded to you as travel allowances? Ambrose how did you manage the meeting with the non-existent ‘bank’ you went chasing for millions of dollars? Man, you are one kettle calling pots black. If policiticians stay away from Social Security money then we will have no problem. So long as you people want to invest in any and all hairbrain schemes, it has nothing to do with management. You jolly well know that the final say comes from government. Government dictates what happens in social security. As soon as you give it up it will be properly managed.

Time for this CARICOM thing to get up and running. Black people have too much hate for each other. It’s like we brought this tribal hatred nonsense from Africa, it’s like it’s in our genes. What is wrong with us? Are we going to continue to be like crabs in a barrel mentality?

“Black people have too much hate for each other.” This statement coming from somebody who has referred to these same black people as “pagan” “scum of the earth” and “infidels” in other posts? SMH.
