US television production company to visit Dominica

Discover Dominica Authority will host US TV production company Aura 360 Productions from September 24 – 29, 2011.

The company produces an NBC TV Show called World of Adventure Sports.

The five member crew will participate in adventure activities on the island, with a view to providing exposure to the range of attractions on offer in the Nature Island.

The objective of the partnership is to highlight the unique environmental and cultural attributes of Dominica through media and develop the logistical framework for the creation of an adventure sport event in the near future.

Key sites and attractions to be visited are segments of the Waitukubuli National Trail, the Boiling Lake and Titou Gorge.  These and other natural assets of Dominica will be distributed to all the World of Adventure Sports media channels, including NBC, VERSUS and Universal Sports.

Additionally a 30 second commercial will be produced for the destination.

Is Dominica is getting paid while some exploit her beauty for money?

Dominica should be paying for exposure. Thing is, we have everything but honestly, we need the exposure, the exposure don’t need us. It’s just how things work. Once Dominica is on a competitive level then we can consider charging people for exploitation. That’s just how it works. but I guess you know that already and just here to act silly

you made a good point..just like pirates of the caribbean, because we dont have entertainment laws per say on the island and lack of foresight the producers scored millions and what was or returns either very little or zero..we should have rights of property and site aspects or a 2.5% of their box office sales of the final product…

so in the end we were used our raw material..taken to burbank in Cali etc..process nicely final product out..and to hell with us..it think we need to revisit or take a page of being able to see the bigger picture..im not saying the aspect of pirates of the caribbean wasnt a great feature, but in this entertainment industry nothing is given in ignornacy at all…thats the fact…hey my bro mark marie..shed some light as you a pro in that aspect guide the DDA etc…please many thanks a concern citizen here..

Here is the true picture of location shooting, Site. In the US and Canada cities give all sorts of tax incentives and other perks for a production company to come and shoot in their area. Why? Because the out of state members of company and crew pay to stay and work in the area. Hotels get bookings, restaurants and caterers get work. Local extras , drivers get work. This increase in revenue is what everyone is vying for. If you expect any film or TV production company is going to pay a premium to shoot here or anywhere you are sadly mistaken. That is basic to the economics of the film business. Notice they shot mostly second unit stuff in Dominica and then went elsewhere for the rest of the series, because it was cheaper.

Its not the first time Dominica is hosting news crews with their equipment. Dominicans should advertise their island as A PRECIOUS GEM THAT IS CHALLENGING TO GET BUT AT THE END IS A PRIZE, but when you make arlift and LIAT your problem, you end up destroying your image.
