WCMF online store launches, offers custom festival products

Chester Wilkins of LinkQMedia and Natalie Clarke-Meade, DFC Events Director

World Creole Music Festival-goers – both those in Dominica and abroad – are now able to purchase customizable event merchandise online with the newly launched WCMF internet store.

The products include t-shirts, hoodies, tank tops, hats, mugs, shoes, posters, bumper stickers, coasters, i-Pod & i-Pad cases and much more. The custom store is located at www.zazzle.com/WorldCreoleMusicFest.

Each product is branded with a Festival or Independence image – from the “Mizik a Nou” dancing musicians on a t-shirt, to a madras print on notebook binders and Keds shoes, and even custom designed portable speakers. Many of the products also feature designs that highlight the landmark 15th year of the World Creole Music Festival. In addition to the already created designs in the store, anyone making a purchase can customize each and every product by adding their own text (such as a name or phrase) and/or images.

“We live in a virtual planetary business world where IP is the order of the day. Therefore the Dominica Festivals Committee must create as many revenue strands in this global market with a focus to developing the Dominica’s World Creole Festival’s and Carnival’s existing product platform,” said DFC Events Director Natalie Clarke-Meade. “There is much room for improvement which will take strategic planning and partnering with business and financial sector organizations and their services to extend the life of the products to another fifteen years. To bring this unique and innovative online store to patrons in Dominica and around the world, the Dominica Festivals Committee collaborated with LinkQMedia, a marketing and consulting company founded by Chester Wilkins of Pointe Michel. Wilkins says the online store is an opportunity to further promote and brand the event on a truly international scale, while also offering customers quality products that will be mementos of the festival for years to come.”

She continued, “It’s a positive move for the World Creole Music Festival to now offer products and souvenirs for the event. In addition it’s an online format that’s available internationally,” Wilkins said. “Anyone from anywhere in the world can browse through the products, make a purchase and represent Dominica’s festival worldwide.”
Wilkins says customers can even contact him directly to request specific WCMF images on products if the item isn’t already available.

The WCMF internet store can be adapted to the languages (French, Spanish, German, English and more) and preferences of customers in Europe, North America, Asia and Latin America, which puts Dominica’s World Creole Music Festival on a genuinely worldly scale. Products are shipped to customers located in hundreds of countries across the globe.

About this new endeavor Clarke-Meade added, “My intention and challenge as DFC Events Director is to bring such a dream to fruition within a very short period of time. With the backing and leverage of all stakeholders Dominicans home and abroad and across our region, there is absolutely no reason why these Festivals should not remain both unique whilst evolving and serving their existing and future strands with excellence and success. For sure I know that we Caribbean people understand that one hand cannot clap and that our drops together create an ocean.”

I think that Pedro makes some valid observations.

However, WCMF management should be commended for moving to give more exposure to the WCMF brand and develop another revenue stream.I would hope that there are good reasons for not implementing on-line ticket sales at this time.

The data from merchandise sales should be used by WCMF and its marketing consultant partner to determine how and where to strengthen the WCMF brand. Good luck.

It’s very nice to see that we are all getting inline with all this online stuff, very good, but I have one question for Events Director Natalie Clarke-Meade, Why is Nasio Fontaine not performing at the WCMF???????????? What is wrong with us our own come to us and we receive him not. WCMF could I ask you to have a look at the profile of Nasio and compare it with most of your line that you have and will be paying loads of money to and may I add monies that will be taken out of Dominica, again I ask what is wrong with our own. I really hope we can be Living In The Positive as the great Nasio ask’s us to do.

this Fest insnt attractive if someone who has attended many fest before..

really nothing to shout about…the creole fest was much more authentic in the intial stages from 97…and merchandise would be a plus as the product was much more impressive..

maybe a good try but not worth much in my view…

dislike the line up..too much side pieces of bands and regulars weekend acts to the island, cannot show up as a HIGH CLASS WORLD EVENT PERIOD! when you consider the price and that 95% of the acts have being to DA before honestly dosent strike a nerve in my view…

I totally agree with u 100%.. Nothing new, the same old bands, I was really hoping the 15th anniversary would be much greater..back in the 90s use to be so great..with loketo and sakiss from Africa.. y dnt they send for those bands..
Back then was cheaper and greater.. Now its more and expensive and more rubbish!!

I like it. Another income generating stream and further publicity for the fest and DA overall.

My only point of contention: Mr. Wilkins should not be allowed to run a quasi subsidiary by allowing people to contact him directly. How will DFC account for those transactions.

Make sure that everything is registered/trademarked/copyrighted so that if they are duplicated without authorization, you have a legal recourse. It will be difficult to monitor, but at least you will have a recourse once you identify a violator of intellectual property.

If you check out the store and website you’d see it’s a secure company that doesn’t give credit card information to individual sellers.

it’s not too late to see how far we are in being a country of revelling.

too much concentration on nonproductive entertainment.

while ugly and negative responses are expected, all we ask is to take a good look around us and say what you see…

the country is changing for the worse

Most people care more about the convenience of purchasing tickets and also at an affordable price. What about online tickets? There is not even mention of this at all. Are you serious about a Worldwide audience? Come on Natalie, get with the times! This festival is 15 years old. Ridiculous!
