Workshop targets investors

A one-day workshop targeting new and potential investors in the tourism sector will get underway here today.

The event, which will get underway at the Jungle Bay Resort, is jointly sponsored by Invest Dominica Authority and AID Bank. It is targeting new and emerging investments in a bid to draw attention to innovations and skills critical for advancing efforts in this area.

The main component of the workshop is expected to be in the area of networking and strategizing between private operators and investors with public sector agencies and key financial institutions as they pursue development in the accommodation sub-sector.

The workshop is expected to be interactive with participants sharing their experiences and helping to draw out strategies for long-term development in the sector.

Good going Roger…. I think manufacturers need that!!
It is amazing though that Invest Dominica Authority is still grappling with strategies to encourage proper investments. They have been through quite a number of consultants, and the agency employees can’t seem to be able to pick the good out of the bunch of crap these out of touch consultants come to give….so IDA is spinning around like a headless chicken looking for some way out….the Executive Director seems to be unable to find the DIRECTION……but what else is new with the ED. :-D

Following the Jungle Bay workshop targeting investors in the tourist sector I will be giving a half -day workshop for manufactueres titled:

HOW TO IMPROVE PRODUCT & PRODUCTIVITY
    WITHOUT GOING INTO DEBT

From my involvement with Dominica’s small and medium scale manufacturers as a production line design and development engineer, I find that significant improvements can be made to products and productivity – and hence profit – without large capital expense. Similar problems hamper all manufactures, regardless of size and many of the solutions are common to all.

In my workshop, I will identify the problems and suggest simple solutions. Businesses can implement many of my recommendations at little or no expense. Whether the production line is on the kitchen table or the factory floor, the same basic rules apply.

My presentation will be non-technical and my proposals easy to put into practice. Examples will be from real life situations and I guarantee there will be no boring power point text to send participants to sleep!

The workshop, a non-government initiative, will be held at Antrim Valley tomorrow, Thursday 24th March, beginning at 1.30pm and ending at 5.00pm.

The course fee of EC$200.00 includes light refreshments. Free places are available for Young Entrepreneurs.
