Scrunter should have used a flash drive instead of a CD which is likely to get scratched. Dice, Soul Puss, Bob and Sour Sour were very good
While I agree that things should have been done more professionally, from the comments coming from Val at the start of the show, it seemed the problem was with the sound system and not necessarily the band itself, except for the lack of practice with some of the calypsonians. The engineers in my opinion were very hopeless and could not get things right. As far as Scrunter is concerned, my understanding from someone who was standing close to the engineers was that the back up CD Scrunter gave them was
scratched and that’s why the tracks were jumping all over the place.

I was extremely disappointed again at the organizers of this event. It is my belief that there is a lark of respect of people time and money. The show started almost two hours late, the band was not a real band, it appears to me that they spent no time at all with the performers. The DJ sucked he totally embarrassed Scrunter by not listening to his direction as to what songs he wanted to lip sync to causing him to walk out on stage. Then the show took an interesting turn once young bull requested that the band accompany him by playing a song which they neither knew or practiced, which caused the guitarist to pack his instrument, pull his wires out, throw a hissy fit and walk out on stage giving Pat Aron a moment to show case his skill on guitar. The entire thing was hysterical and pathetic. But for King Dice and Sour Sour the show was total crap. I thin Dominicans in New York should start boycotting this types of events and this will force the organizers to step up their game. This is total rubbish that you would pay for talent or lark there of and have them travel to the United States for stupidity. Shame on Pat Aron and all the goons who were a part of his team. I will never patronize this event again, because I do not have the time nor the patience for this nonsense. I could spend the same money and go to a trini event and have a good time. Dominicans it is time to show these money grabbing organizers that we will no longer stand for this and we should expect to get a great show for our money.

While i support your view on every thing you have said this does not happen to this event alone it all DOMINICAN event in new York City, on the other hand Mas Camp had very little sponsordhip while the other event carded for 08/17/2013 is sponsored by the government of Dominica here comes the politics in calypso. Here is my suggestion to both camps ahy not have a clash of the tents next year where organizers will make out fearly well, i was told that was proposed but was turned down by swingstars stardom what a shame.

For $30 you got your picture all over Facebook. Otherwise the show was crap. Val and the boys tried hard, you could tell they were really trying….. but it was a total failure. Free JAM next year!
I say this with all good intentions cause it would be unfair to say it is what it is not. You can fix only when you know thereality of the situation. Here is the short version. IT WAS EMBARASSING TO DOMINICANS HERE ESPECIALLY THOSE OF US WHO WANT TO BOAST ABOUT WHAT WE HAVE TO OFFER. I brought a friend to boast too. How can we support our own when our own disappoint us EVERYTIME?? Its not that Dominicans do not support theirs, its the other way around.

Dem guys were not prepared. They hear Stardom coming up with Dice as guest; they decide they coming up too. Poor standard.
Awah SAAS Masscamp show was advertised way before stardom. Furthermore there is room for both activities and people have choices, stop the crab in barrel syndrome. You actually believe Stars are any better? Maybe they’ll take heed of this debacle and try to do better, but truth is they are all a disappointment year in and out. Stars have one woman who is trying to be Beyonce and Destra, then the Machel wannabee. No hate it is a fact. They spend so much time immitating other performers and singing other peoples’ music at Dominican events I don’t know why they bother to come. All of them are a hot mess and take people for granted.
Yes you do know that Stardom will be better. Stop the hatred. This is the crap you get when you try to destroy others.
As far as I am concerned the show was a complete diaster.The sound system broke down on many occasions. The calyponian Sye was missing in action, Scrunter tried to got started on four occasions and never finished four calypos he started. Prosper fooled or tricked us,because he made an announcement on Matt in the morning show that he was going to release his new 2014 calypso, I am still waiting. However,there were two bright spots on the show which officially started at 11.30pm and ended at 4.20 am,they were performances by Dice and Sour Sour.
I feenesh with Dominica activities wi.I really expected more and nothing to say the calypsonians gave it their all. The organizer for how he likes to talk on radio should spend more time making sure he hire a band who has the time to rehearse and keep up with the calypsonians. I vex with myself because I made how many minds not to go given the hot stone all Dominican activities tend to give people to hold, and I still up and went. I good with that. Another thing my people stop linning road and minding people business. Go inside and enjoy or cry for all you money grow up.
we were there, and I am speechless, as in the past and to be fair to the organizers, your intentions are not called to question. But for heaven`s sake it appears that there was very little practice, or no practice at all with the band, also why wasn’t a competent engineer hired to run things? That`s all I will say about that, cause it`s like beating a dead horse. Having been to so many function as a Dominican and a supporter of all things Dominican, again I left last night show smdh” and saying never!!! me again, but this coming weekend my hope is things will be better cause I AM Dominican” and love things Dominican. But some persons have to understand that when we pay money to see people perform things have to be properly and professionally done still “smfh” say it isn’t so. Who the cap fit let them wear it.
THIS IS FRUSTRATING!! AND THEN YOU WANT OUR SUPPORT!! We love our own but our own need to love us enough to give us someting good for those hard earned dollars that we put in for those shows. Even out of state we travel. Yes we love our own that much. Its more than time to come bettr than that!!
The calyposonians were good to go so what happened to the band and music Peter Pros didnt even get music to accompany him but he kept on singing big up to him and others, we hope you guys will come back next year with a better band and we will be waiting.
