CARICOM STATEMENT: Prime minister-elect of Trinidad and Tobago

The Caribbean Community extends congratulations to the Honourable Kamala Persad-Bissessar, leader of the United National Congress (UNC), on her resounding win in the general elections held Monday 28 April 2025.  We also congratulate the people of Trinidad and Tobago on the peaceful exercise of their democratic rights.

The decisive victory is a clear mandate from the people of Trinidad and Tobago as the country continues its forward journey.

We look forward to welcoming Prime Minister-elect Persad Bissessar to the Conference of Heads of Government, and to her participation, as we continue to tackle emerging geopolitical issues, and seek to further improve the welfare and well-being of the people of the Region.

    Meanwhile in the land of many rivers, the Giant Goliath looks so big and invincible, but it may well be just a padded up front propped up by a phantom voters list. Keeping hope alive that some day soon, Goliath will be challenged and exposed for who he really is. The Biblical Goliath was slain by a shepherd boy named David. This Goliath too shall pass!!
