Crashed Alaskan aircraft recovered on weekend

Tragedy struck Western Alaska when a small plane carrying 10 passengers and crew members crashed into the sea just off the coast.  As reported by CNN, the incident occurred on Thursday afternoon when a Bering Air plane, taking off from Unalakleet, was headed towards Nome. Unfortunately, contact was lost, and the wreckage was later located approximately 34 miles southeast of Nome by the US Coast Guard.

The bodies of all 10 people on board were subsequently recovered and identified, according to local authorities. This grim news follows a spate of recent air accidents in the US, with a particularly devastating incident occurring last week in Washington, DC. On this occasion, an American Airlines plane and a Black Hawk Helicopter collided, resulting in the loss of 67 lives. These disasters have reportedly shaken the airline industry and prompted the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to conduct an extensive safety review.

An investigation into the Alaska plane crash is currently underway, with experts working to determine the root cause of the disaster. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will focus on analyzing air traffic control data, which is expected to be crucial in understanding the events leading up to the tragedy. The recovery of the wreckage, however, is expected to be delayed due to the challenging weather conditions in the area. Heavy snow and strong winds were forecast for the region over the weekend, making it difficult to retrieve the plane’s remains from the sea ice, which is deemed unstable, according to the media reports.
