The Crayfish River Farmers Group ‘Kalinago Native Cultural Exchange Inc. ‘,  has established a very strong  and mutually advantageous  relationship with a Farmers Group in Martinique. The Crayfish River Farmers group consists of eight active members and one of its goals is to unite people through agriculture and cultural exchanges with other indigenous tribes throughout the Caribbean.  The group is headed by Mr. Anthony Lucien, who is an active member of the Kalinago Council. He is also charged by the Council to address the issue of deforestation and enhance the water catchment areas.

From its inception, the group has undertaken various projects. However, their last project is of paramount importance because it involved sorting supplies for a school feeding program. The Martinique group donated much-needed food supplies to Mr. Lucien during his visit to meet with the Martinique group.

The farmer’s group of Crayfish River donated these food supplies to all the schools in the Territory. Obviously, thanks were extended to the farmer’s group of Martinique.

In addition, Mr. Lucien stated, “I am working to get my group to participate in the Martinique Agricultural Fair sometime next year. We Kalinagos have a strong relationship with the French Territories but we have to continue to explore it”.

Mr. Lucien revealed that he intends to establish relationships with indigenous groups in St. Lucia, St. Vincent, and the Kalina Tribe of French Guyana.

My people, we have enough land and other pertinent natural resourses to provide enough food for ourselves and our families. We too damn lazy, disorganised and divided. Lets come and work together and provide for ourselves and be independent. Stop that dependent syndrome.

Gifts, donations, support, help. When will Dominica be independent? When will we be a nation that can lead and provide help to others without asking. It seems that we are in a constant state of hand out. internally, externally. why must the kalinago people still be begging for basic requirements when the government that has has access to the most money ever in our history keep throwing crumbs to the people. Our new president needs to address the issues in the territory. i want to see the kalinago people living like first class citizens. Not like an afterthought.

Name a small island state that is independent to the extent to which you speak. The great USA has a national debt of over 25 trillion dollars, this debt is financed by foreign countries including China, Japan and Ireland. France is still actively involved in the exploitation of countries in Africa. The Europeans and Americans control the global financial system and make rules to their own benifit while blacklisting small states that are unable to comply. When this happens people like you support the actions of the American and Europeans and blame these small states for not complying with the wishes and bidding of your European and American masters. Only when we are able to unshackle our minds and free ourselves of mental slavery will we be able to call ourself independent.
