2 in trouble for stealing power from DOMLEC

One man has been sentenced for dishonestly extracting electricity from local power company Dominica Electricity Services Ltd. (DOMLEC) while his counterpart will re-appear in court for trial at a later date.

Russel Lucien, who pleaded guilty to aiding and abetting and theft of electricity, will pay $2,152.18 in compensation for the theft of 1908 kilowatts of electricity by October 25, 2010 or he will face six months in jail.

He will also pay a $750 fine in which $500 of that amount must be paid by November 25, 2010 or he will face another six months in prison. The rest of the fine is suspended for one year.

There was no separate penalty to the aiding and abetting conviction.

Severin Victor Bruney, with whom Lucien was alleged to have aided and abetted, pleaded not guilty to that charge. His trial was adjourned to a later date.

According to the charges read against the defendants, this activity occurred in Bath Road between June 1, 2009 and May 31, 2010.

I am not encouraging theft, but by all means, the majority of Dominicans at home are poor people, two, the government is not creating jobs. What are the people to do, it would seem to me that Dominica is moving backward instead of forward.

i wont have to bail em, cuz by that time the government would realise that thier people are suffering and are being pushed into living in an uncivilized manner…they would put an end to the rein on Domlec’s greed and all the others!!!!

THATS WHY DOMINICA WILL NEVER GROW!!!!!!!!!!!!! THESE EVIL PEOPLE ONLY SEEK FOR THEMSELVES AND DON’T GIVE A RAT’S a@# ABOUT THE REST

Does DOMLEC pay me for my inconvience when I have to go without electricity when it rains? Does DOMLEC offer a rebate to offset the cost of buying a back-up generator or multiple candles? I cannot even put a price on missing “The Bold and the Beautiful”. Who is the real thief? LOL

These Companies in Dominica are killing the poor people!!!!!

I was comparing water and Electricity rates of Dominica and the Virgin Islands and the Virgin Islands rates are way cheaper, though it is very much more expensive for them to provide their customers with water and Electricity

It is very disturbing seeing my fellow dominicans suffering from these Evil business men and women in dominica….they are draining the very last drop of the people’s life!
I would even encourage more people to start do the same!!!

!!! STEAL!!! BECAUSE U CANT LIVE WITHOUT IT AND U CAN’T AFFORD TO PAY FOR IT!! SO STEAL! YOU HAVE NO OTHER CHOICE!!1

ITS NOT LIKE THE HALF ROOM IN STOCK FARM FOR ALLTHOSE THAT ARE SUFFERING!!!!
