Alleged cylinder thieves get bail

Former H.H.V. Whitchurch employees Neville Boston of Canefield, Murphy Carlisle of Fond Cole and Narin Lewis of Fields Lane Roseau have been granted bail in the sum of $10,000 for the offence of theft.

All three men are accused of stealing thirteen 20-pound gas cylinders belonging to H.H.V. Whitchurch and co. Ltd on July 1, 2012.

The court granted bail, with all three told that they were required to report to the Roseau police headquarters once a week.

The men pleaded not guilty to the offence and are set to reappear in court on the 19th November, 2012.

its a sad thing if the guys actual did this but the employer could deal wit this differently by making them pay for the cylinders each. calculation cylinder is $35 x 13 missing= $455.00
each men cud pay $151.66 and no one should know about this. shame of mr aird and them for guys working there for more than fifteen years.

One day they will catch the real volehs inside there. Those who put money in accounts and withdraw while falsely labeling it as “salaries” to evade taxes and those who do evil and blame it on others. Your time is coming.

The cylinder WITH the gas costs $135, you only calculated the cost of the gas. So $135 x 13 = $1,755. If your’re caught stealing and don’t want to go to court,(or at the discretion of management) you pay 5 times the amount so that would work out to $8,755 /3 = $2,925 each would have to pay.

Calculis the empty cylinders were returned to the bulk terminal therefore your maths is flawed. Miami is actually correct

13 cylinders? Do they think that they could get away from being suspected and caught with that amount of cylinders and in Dominica?
It is sad that they lost their jobs. They will regret it. After the case is called and whatever the outcome, later in life who will employ them with such a record?
Always think before you act. Do not be weak of spirit and succumb to temptation which is the influence of the cunning one, the enemy of God and of our souls. He is up to no good and does not want what is good for anyone. He is out to get the youth. Do not allow him to destroy you. Arm yourselves with worship and prayer. Keep busy fruitfully. Idleness is the devil’s playground and workshop.
I pray that God will assist especially the youth to stay away from trouble of any kind. May they learn from the mistakes of others.
God bless and grace them and enlighten them to know that the life of those who do good will be a relatively happy and peaceful one and contribute same to their country and other nationals.

Are you sane? You get your facts straight. Some of you love to defend those who commit crimes.
Are you blaming me? This is what I read and they were charged. Why were they charged? There is no smoke without fire. The Police arrested them. There is obviously some truth in it that they stole the cylinders. Or did they plan to steal the cylinders? Why then would have gone before the Court and were granted bail? Utilize your common sense if you have any and do not blame others for commenting about what they read which is very well the truth.

Why should a simple case of theft should be sent as far back as November. Only a few statements to collected and put a case file together I know thae the court’s calender is packed, so if at the trial, they are found not guilty they will be out off job all these time? AS they are out on bail, they are deffinitly not returning to their jobs

      @ B.E.B.

Those who steal and/or accused of stealing from employers will be generally dismissed. Do you expect an employer to keep them on their payroll if they are even suspected of stealing?
How could they be found not guilty? Tell us what happened which caused them to be arrested?
