Alleged kidnapper gets bail

Desmond Phillip

After being in custody for 10 months Desmond Phillip, who is facing two charges of kidnapping, has been granted bail in the sum of $60,000.00.

Pastor David Serrant stood as surety.

Phillip, along with three other men and one woman, is alleged to have kidnapped Deon Hakim Alfred and Leon “Dopie” Joseph on March 10th, 2012 in Yampiece.

Represented by attorney Peter Alleyne, the accused has to report three times a week to the Roseau police station, surrender all his travel documents, stay away from all prosecution witnesses and should not get into trouble with the law while on bail.

Pastor Serrant told that court that he has known Phillip from the 1980’s and for the past five years Phillip has been attending his church in Goodwill.

It is amazing the people who get to be in jail versus the ones who gets out the next day. This poor man must have been innocent of the kidnappings but because of relationships he was left in jail. Yet, men who committing murders, robbing places at gun point, rapist are all out walking free. Thanks Pastor Serrant, God Bless you.

Innocent until proven guilty. It’s the law! or should be THE LAW, and should rule.

Unless you are the woman who killed her two kids and was set free even after ascerting her guilt. Well .. because she wasn’t smoking marijuana or accused of having marijuana maybe? Then they would have charged her/?.

the police have to admit they did b.s with this case…. first and foremost they released the main culprits who are french nationals… it is alledged that the culprits were the ones who kidnapped the young men… these french nationals won’t be sent to dominica to face the charges and there’s nothing the dominica police force can do…. so i see they are ‘torturing’ this man and his wife… hoping they know about the whereabouts of the two young men

You who is supporting this crime when it happen? See the Pastor these type of people who holds such position as they are called should stay out of this and preach the word of the almighty.
If for some reason this man abscorned the church goers money have to pay this huge amount.
