Another business place robbed; no police breakthrough

Another business place has fallen prey to robbery.

The latest occurred this morning at Maximum Supplies at Fond Cole and is presently being investigated by police.

According to reports from the Public Relations Officer of the Dominica Police Force Sergeant Kenth Matthew, in the early hours of Tuesday morning, three masked men surprised two security guards while on duty.

“The masked men robbed the security guards of two cellular phones, one pair of Sebago shoes. They had them tied with duct tape and during the robbery they also took some money at Maximum Supplies. No one was injured and they made good their escape,” he said.

The incident follows a robbery at Sukies bread depot in Goodwill on Saturday night. Several other robberies had been reported this month and in the past two months.

The Police PRO said its “unfortunate that we are not able to tell the public of any real breakthrough as yet. We hope that will not continue for too long.”

“Unfortunately, most of the leads either led us to nowhere or we could not have gone too far with those leads but we are still following up,” Matthew added.

Police Chief Cyril Carrette has asked business owners to strengthen their security systems, during the Christmas season.

DOMINICAN’S please realize that the fictionalize accounts of the African American ghetto experience is based on Hollywood. Most of you have never interacted with real people from the ghetto and would not like to. Stop using the “n” word on facebook, stop using the tem “peeps”, that went out in 1994. If you cannot afford something, get a job, save your money or do without it.

To the robbers, enjoy your Sebago’s( boating shoes)on the boat that you own. They will come in handy when they send you up the river.

I think the police are trying their best. The community needs to work with them but since there are persons who condole the criminals, there will always be unresolved matters. Stop blaming the police, we see it takes the US police more than 10 years to solve a crime. So let us work with our police here to solve crime in a few months.

there is no way crimes can be stopped if the community is not cooperating wth the police.there is no way a robbery can happen with nobody seeing anything or hearing anything. you donot have to see the person face , what about their clothes , their shoes, their walking style, the cars and bikes that frequenting the areas.what about getaway car rentals.people please help the police .in dominica everybody knows everybody.

It’s time good people to get gun license in DA because bad people have them and are willing to use them to get what they want. I’m not going to be a security guard with a stick and you pointing a gun at me I will tell you take what you want my life is more important. But DA also need to get modernize by finger printing, forensic officers, CSI etc so all these things will not happen especially murderers walking free after they do what they do.

there is a problem with the Dominica Police Force. It is a serious problem and if nothing is done soon we are going to to be in a worst place come 2012.

The is no leadership. No accountability. No motivation . Who is in Charge? This is a shame. When the police take a million years to respond to calls, what do we expect?

When the police officers are not engaged what do we expect?

It is an issue of leadership. Officers need to be held accountable.

It seems like they want to actually see the crime committed to be able to solve it? Whether did they learn investigation?

Most DOMINICANS are disappointed in the police force.

SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE TODAY.
CHANGE LEADERSHIP. THE CURRENT CHIEF IS LOST!

IT MAKES ME WONDER IF THE POLICE MEN ARE
AWARE OF THE ROBBERIES WHICH INTERN TIES THEIR HANDS TO MAKE ARREST. IT COULD BE THERE KNOW SOME OF THE PEOPLE AS FRIENDS OR FAMILIES AND DO NOT WANT TO IMPLICATE THEM.
IT WONT SURPRISE ME IN THESE DAYS WE ARE LIVING IN. MOST PEOPLE SEEMS TO TURN THE OTHER WAY WHEN MONEY IS INVOLVE.

The robberies are continuing unabated because the criminals know the police are hopeless; they have no fear of the Police. Furthermore, when a case does actually come to the Court, the penalty for the convicted is lenient. We need to re-introduce flogging and do it in the open so people will think twice before committing crimes.

dont they think that they have enough for a ggod time over the Christmas/New Year period?

Time for the wives, mothers, girlfriends of these animals to say ‘STOP, we have enough cash, and before someone gets seriously hurt’.

The robbers are hearing about the stalling tactics regardingf the investigation of that heinous firebombing crime against Lawyer Emanuel, his wife and the police officer who is investigating money-laundering. Denny came forward, trying to assist the police in that crime, confessed that he did the crime. He also revealed that he was facilitated by Seco. We all klnow what is going on. Such a serious, horrible criminal act, but we hear contradictory statements, all out defensive mode by those in “High Places”, defence of, protection of “Big boys? Almost 1 year ago Dominicans awoke to the horrible news of the attempted murders of those senior citizens. Up till now, NADA and Dominicans are concluding that nothing will come out of that. No justice. It depends on who are involved in that criminal act.

Those thieves are hearing of and seeing the Stalling tactics as well concerning the Emanuel vs. Isidore case and the alledged fraud involving millions of dollars. judicial review? No justice. That’s what it is. Protection for the “Big Boys.” It is plain and simple. We are no fools.

So what do we expect? Should we be surprised? The thieves are hearing of the passport sales and the non transparency and accountability. Some making millions, while the Treasury is being short-changed. Whio were brought to justice for the Rubbish Bin and fertilizer bobols? What about all those other controversial, secret deals and transactions? what about the quick enrichment by some in public office? The thieves are listening and they are taking their chances.

Why we like to blame police for crimes not being solved when you the witnessing public do not report any crime (turn a blind eye and say its none of your business)..

We do not report any suspicious activity… You do not answer the poluice questions about what you might have seen or heard…

Many people out there know who these criminals are but refuse to assist the Police Department.

All we dominicans do is watch CSI and SVU and suggest to our police to be more like a ‘TV show’…

So No, don’t blame the police blame ourselves!

The security guards need to be question, last month in the USA a woman call 911 screaming saying that she was robbed, she told the investigators that as soon as she closed the business place and going to her vehicle a masked guy robbed her at gun point and too the night deposit, she mentioned the guy as being Hispanic, she said that she made a call to her manger informing him of the robbery

What she did not see coming is that the first police who arrived at the scene said that what she told him is different from what she told the other officers

The police took her into the building while two search her vehicle, only to find out the the woman hide the bag with the money way underneath the passenger seat of her vehicle, she was charged and is serving time in jail

So fellow Dominicans who knows some of this robberies could be inside jobs, the last i heard a few months ago they arrested three one student and two others from the south of the island, since then many more robberies took place and is taking place on the island for which all is being blamed on the youths, what the police need to do is do a thorough investigation and questioning of the staffs of the business places , security guards and all

with this trend in a small island as Dominica this is not good at all, Dominica need prayer and cleansing from the Almighty

@voice from the north…. no business person is going to get licensed firearm to engage in shooting.. would you? this is the job of the security firms.. thing is apart from platinum not much firms have staff who are licensed to carry or execute fire arms… so as far as businesses go.. they must ask of there security firms to get such services and be ready to pay for it… simple pimple

Unless business places begin to protect themselves and their businesses in ways in which the robbers will think twice, then those robberies will continue. I am not here saying that the businesses doing nothing or that they are encouraging thieves. What I am saying is that business must become pro-active by obtaining licensed firearms. When a few robbers are caught in the fire with some lead in their head, chest or butt, then others will think twice or maybe thrice before contemplating robbing someone’s business.

The judicial system in Dominica need upgrade, when caught there should be no bail for them bandits, also they need to send them up to Stock Farm for ten years plus

Preferable under cover/plan cloths, be patient(ur being paid),they havn’t been caught, they don’t think they can be caught. They’ll try again. However, when they’re caught-keep them alive, but make sure one their body parts is missing. Mr P.M. make an announce, let the robbers know that there punishment will be death by firing squad. You got it, we mean business!

DNO, before printing your stories make sure they are correct. For your information, the guys were dressed like police officers. They were also wearing masked on their faces. Went to the guards…..beat them up and took their posessions. They ask the guards for the keys to the business, but common, the guards had no keys.

Business places look out. They thieves are loose….be on guard…..becareful when cops come poping infront your homes and properties…i am really scared. Lord help us and help Dominica
