The police have arrested a woman in connection with the finding of fetus in Gutter Village on Tuesday morning.
Police PRO, Inspector John Carbon, told DNO that a 46-year-old woman from the community was arrested on Wednesday at around 6:30 pm.
She is now a patient at the Princess Margaret Hospital and is under police guard.
She has not been charged with any crime.
The fetus was discovered around 8:30 am on Tuesday and transported to hospital.
A medical practitioner confirmed that it was male and was about 20 weeks old.
How can there be an arrest if the circumstances are not known. Well all women in The World should be arrested for having natural abortion.
To the many women who wrote horrible things about this woman i guess you do not know your body well. There is something call miscarriage (natrual abortion) where the fetus not longer survive and naturally it is expelled by the body. Probably she did not know what to do with it.

Before condemning this woman of some sort of crime, lets give her the benefit of the doubt. Many women have miscarriages in the first few months of pregnancy and the whole ordeal is very traumatic, which may explain why the fetus was left in a very strange spot. Many people in Dominica are too quick to jump to accusations and conclusions, let a DOCTOR advise what really happened with this pregnancy/fetus.
No doubt, what this woman did was a horrible crime indeed.
Allow me to ask, what about these women who say it’s their body and in secret pay doctors hundreds of dollars to abort their fetuses?
What about the men who order after fulling their stomachs with sex put pressure on their “partners” to abort their fetuses when it is found out, sometimes after a scan the fetus is 4 months sometimes five?
What about those doctors who have no conscience, they are baby killers? It’s just a “job” for them.
Another problem in our society, many look down on women who have too many children as if having children is a crime. Family life is not seen as noble anymore but getting and career and making money. When will we stop deluding ourselves?

I would not speculate what caused her to do this. Yours will not make the issue any better or worse. No one saw her and no one knows what caused her to do this, at least not those who lambast her on this Website. If you knew and saw what she did, then your comments will be truthful. She is now in a predicament and no doubt regrets her action which she cannot amend. She is at the mercy of the Law. God and herself knows how she feels. If she sincerely asks God for forgiveness, He who knows hearts and is appeased will forgive her.
After the police conduct their investigation into this matter, I do hope she gets help in whatever manner she will need it; actually, while she is in the hospital. May some compassionate heart(s) come to her rescue to aid her.

For your information, once a baby is conceived, it already has a soul. God gave that baby a soul. It is a sin of murder, to destroy the baby in the womb. It would have been better to have the baby and give it up for adoption. Leave it at the hospital. It is sad that this occurred. There must be a reason why she did it. I got pregnant when I was in high school. It was a rape case an someone brought something for me to take to get rid of the baby. I thank God that i kept my son who is now in his 30’s. Talk about hardship in the ’70’s! I did not have anything. Today I am very proud of my son who has given me 7 grand babies.

The medical examiner will conduct an autopsy and they will determined if the fetus was alive and then was killed. At this moment all we have is the Unlawful Disposal of a Fetus/Human which is a violation of the Health Code or the Administrative Code. Now if this woman stood in the crowd and watch then I would have to think that she has some type of mental problem.

46 years old? Some women are already in pre-menopause at that age. And in places like Dominica the father would have to be a much younger man, not older than her.
IF that woman is the mother of that Fetus, it is possible that she miscarried–for 46 years is much too old to become pregnant in this age and time–and to have a healthy baby; she could even die while giving birth.

Is it the choice of the GRANDPARENTS? Again, in some places where abortions are legal the grandparents don’t have to be informed. But the girl doesn’t require their consent for the abortion and she doesn’t even have to tell them.
Is it the choice of COUPLES WAITING FOR A CHILD TO ADOPT? No. In Canada since abortion became legal there are less babies to adopt. Loving couples who want to adopt are waiting a long time for a baby.
People will say abortion should be legal so women won’t abort their own babies and this type of thing will not happen. This is not a valid argument for the following reasons. (a) Murder is still murder even if it is made legal. (b) Making it legal results in MORE abortions. (3) Legalizing abortion only masks – but does not eliminate – the medical problems. Women still have complication after “medical” abortions. Some are sent home in terrible condition because the abortionists don’t care! They want to get them out so the have the rooms ready for other women coming in. Some develop infection after they leave the “clinic”. Abortion sometimes results in depression. Studies have shown that abortion CAN (but does not always) make it difficult for a woman to conceive in the future when she wants a baby. Studies have also shown that abortion is a factor in women later developing breast cancer.

I am sorry some writers find it necessary to say cruel things about the woman in this case. At this point in time – July 11, 2013 at 10:43 A.M. – as far as I know an official medical or police report has not yet been issued disclosing the cause of death.
It has been suggested that the woman may have been suffering from depression or another mental illness. She was 46 years old. Was she single or otherwise alone? Did she have other children to care for? All of these things together would not justify her killing her unborn child if she did. But they should help us understand why she may have been overwhelmed.
She is receiving medical care. I hope she will also receive proper counseling. If she broke the law she must face justice. Abortion is never the right thing to do – no – not even in a case of rape. But those who are quick to judge and condemn are not always there to offer charitable and practical help to a woman facing a pregnancy she she can’t cope with.
Abortion is wrong. But sometimes when all the circumstances are known it becomes obvious that the woman is also a victim. I hope and pray that the authorities and all concerned will act in a redemptive manner and help this woman rebuild her life.

Hello we cannot know if it is Murder until the Medical Examiner perform an Autopsy. Suppose the Fetus was stillborn then It can’t be a crime. She is under Police Guard but she has not been charged therefore the Police is waiting on the Medical Examiners findings.
NO, she is not mentally ill. If she has other children and they are not of the same father, it is possible that she was not expecting to be pregnant; however, to abort a baby at five (5) months is not a good reflection for the other children. Maybe the father did not accept paternity and the woman decided she was not bringing a child, or another child into the world with no means of support.

There have been and still are some great and wonderful people who were the products of rape. One of these who is now with Jesus was Ethel Waters, the black gospel singer. Ethel sang in the Billy Graham crusades. Her favorite song was “His Eye is on the Sparrow”. Thank God her mother gave her a chance at life!
A greater effort should be made on the part of the churches and the Christians to offer practical assistance to women who are facing unplanned pregnancies and are having trouble coping. This could begin by explaining to them what their options are. Sometimes a little practical help could be given during the pregnancy in planning for the child if the mother decides to keep it. Churches should consider developing a ministry that would do this.

In the sight of God destroying the life of the unborn is murder. Even when it is legal according to the laws of a country, state, or province it is murder. Human governments have no more right to legalize murder than they have to legalize same sex marriages.
Evangelical churches are opposed to these evils but they have not always made their official positions clear. Bishops, pastors, and evangelists have often failed to teach what the Word of God says about things by giving solid Biblical reasons WHY they are wrong. “For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle?” (1 Corinthians 14:8)
Churches have programs that minister to different age groups and various needs in society. But while they are quick to judge and condemn women who have an abortion what are they doing to provide compassionate and charitable help to women who are facing an unplanned pregnancy and are unable to cope? Many individual Christians could also be much more helpful by being the hands of the Good Shepherd extended into these areas of human need.

Yet, saints are the ones who are so quick to condemn. When you know what God did for you, you have no choice but extend that same kind of grace to others.

Let’s pray for our fellow Dominican. This must be very traumatic for her. I pray that she’s receiving the appropriate medical attention and support. We don’t know what happened. For all we know it could have been her first child and because of her age it may have been a very difficult pregnancy. She may have had a premature birth and panicked. Who knows? Please let’s not judge her but pray for her well being.

I don’t know the 46 year old woman or her mental state of mind. All I know is what she did is wrong. I fail to believe it was a spontaneous abortion cause if it was she would seek medical condition. It most be an induce abortion. I also believe that she is not the only one involved in the act so I say to the police find who help that lady committ such an act.
OK it was not a young lady who miscarried or was scared, so the whole story is out now. It grieves me how this heinous act could be committed when there are people who are truly willing to adopt. For example, Dominica will not allow us gays to marry muchless adopt! However I know that one of my “soon to be husband” and I would be happy to have a child of our own to raise and nurture with a heart and mind of tolerance and love for all mankind!
