Arrest warrant issued for former Turks and Caicos Premier Michael Misick

Misick

An international arrest warrant has been issued for former Turks and Caicos Premier Michael Misick, the government announced today.

Interpol has authorized a “Red Notice” for Misick, who was the country’s Premier until allegations of widespread corruption led the United Kingdom to impose direct rule on the TCI in the summer of 2009.

The TCI’s Special Investigation and Prosecution Team said it has sought to secure the attendance of Misick at its offices in Providenciales for the past several months “in respect of allegations of corruption and money laundering during his time in office,” according to a statement.

I was in the TCI last year, and this issue was hot on their morning radio station. It’s funny how things have now come to a head.

Here we go again! How does our Prime Minister
be part of the story. We seem to be our own enemies I am waiting to see all the evedience.
Maybe they need to go to these investigators
who investigate the Prime Minister of Turks and Cacios .Let them investigate Skerrit and let the process begins….there must be a way if they had
true evidence to convict him Other than that leave the man alone. Just saying

      @ Met Yo

You are one bold person. DNO said that it reserves the right to post them or not. This goes for each and every one of us. Other enterprises do this as well. Why get angry and inform them about it? They do not owe anyone anything. It is their prerogative to post them or not to post them. When you understand that you will not make a fuss about it.

Pretty interesting… Please allow me to share:

Michael Misick: The king of in the colonies
Private jets, designer suits, a Rolls-Royce … the Premier of the Turks and Caicos Islands certainly lived the high life. Now he has quit, and the imperial outpost is back under British control. Cahal Milmo reports

Mr Misick enjoyed a corresponding rise in his own wealth. In 2003 his assets were around $50,000 but by the time he separated from his second wife, LisaRaye McCoy Misick, last year, his estimated wealth was put at up to $180m, including $20m in undeclared loans from foreign companies and members of his government. Asked why he was paid more than the British prime minister, Mr Misick said: “I have done more for the Turks and Caicos than Gordon Brown has done for England.”

Sir Robin’s commission heard how Mr Misick and other ministers had grown rich by acquiring publicly-owned Crown land, selling it to developers and receiving commissions. One deal saw an east European mogul secure land worth millions for an annual rent of £170.

A letter was produced from the islands’ minister for natural resources, McAllister Hanchell, awarding himself a grant of Crown land: “Dear Honourable Hanchell, I refer to your request for a freehold title. I am pleased to inform you in accordance with Cabinet’s decision, it has been agreed freehold title shall be granted. Yours sincerely, Honourable Hanchell.”

Ms McCoy Misick said she had planned to redecorate the interior of another jet, complete with a carpet bearing a crest designed for the couple. Mr Misick spent £190,000 on jewellery and charged more than £600,000 to an American Express card in 2006, Sir Robin heard. Ms McCoy Misick, 31, had spent £137,000 in a month on clothes.

Mr Misick arranged for his wife, a former model, to receive $300,000 to front an advertising campaign for the islands as well as £150,000 for trial shoots for a reality TV show about the couple’s life.

This occurred some years ago. I had forgotten about this man. They had ample time to bring him to Court. They allowed him to leave the island. It is their fault that he cannot be found; must be hiding somewhere. Now they will have to expend an exorbitant sum of money to find him. They will also scrutinize all computer systems especially the private, residence ones, their ins and out, trying to locate him. This happens when they are searching for someone internationally. I wish them luck.

Wow! No doubt, it’s a great course “Corruption Leads to Detention (101)” for many to take notes.
I believe that there’s gonna be a time when the wheels of justice will spin in a righteuos direction on every island in the Caribbean. At least, let’s hope.

I abhor a corrupt politician more than a drug dealer.

the drug dealer most times doesn’t deny that he is a drug dealer,

but those dirty officials always cutting their neck that they are clean “open and transparent” until the public find out they in the pastor wine for years and years…SHAMEFULLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

      @ 1979

His assets have already been seized, some years ago. Let us say that he took off without nothing unless he stashed some of the money with a relative or friend where their investigators could not find it.

So true Mouts. But it serves as a premise to Kings and Queens, Premiers and Presidents that they’re not above the Laws. That’s a very good message in an appropriate region, I think ……

Well, simple mind, what else would you like to see in Dominica? The PM and other sitting ministers have been hauled before the judge on numerous occasions. Currently he is being investigated by the IPO. Thing is, the PM has won his case each time.

What do you suggest? Plant evidence and fabricate a case against him? This may have already been done, simple mind, and it did not work.

A man does not become guilty because people scream that he is. It simply does not work this way in a court of law in most democracies. Get back to the drawing board, simple mind!

peeping tom you know what is ironic about this whole situations, is that england can prosecute its subjects because of their mighty hands, and the independents countries can not come together and demand that england pay them the reparations that is owed to us,in fact to when potia simpson raised her voice they failed to chime in with her, locally all those who accept that we are DNA’d with gorrilas were right here on DNO,calling her rude and what not, all sought of kiss england behind, jump out and voice their opinion of a very positive woman,at least in that instance, slavery really live caribbean people,by the jackass part.

Peeping Tom,Please enlighten me! When was skerritt or any gov’t minister brought before the court for corruption? I don’t recall hearing that or maybe I missed something. What I know is that a judge sacrificed her personal integrity at the altar of political expediency and prostituted her professional ethics, and you call that a victory. May I inform you that the way it works in a court of law in most democracies, is for accused persons to make disclosure of document or facts in their possession which has a bearing on determining the truth, and that is so, even when these documents or fact could have a negative impact on them. You may also like shed some light on your statement “Plant evidence and fabricate a case against him”
