Attempted murder trial enters fourth day Thursday

The attempted murder trial of Albert Steven Jr. will enter its fourth day on Thursday, with defense lawyer for the accused man expected to continue cross examining the complainant Mandela Andrew who was stabbed in his chest on Bowers Lane, Goodwill on December 26, 2008.

Andrew took the witness stand on day two of the trial and gave his version of what happened on the day in question at about 4pm.

Having given his evidence, Andrew is now the subject of cross examination by Zena Dyer, one of two lawyers for Gutter resident Steven.

While cross examining him, Dyer suggested to Andrew that he has changed his story and ‘is trying to blame someone else.”

But he denied that suggestion.

The lawyer also quizzed him about his statements he gave to the police about the incident and told him “you are lying.”

But Andrew flatly denied her suggestion and stated, “I am not lying.”

The matter resumes at 9am on March 15, 2012 with Andrew still on the witness stand being crossed examined.

ONce again, the knee jerk reaction of most of the commentators is to attack a lawyer who you know works extremely hard and grudge her and her hard-working family for their ‘big rides’. You too can get a big ride if you go to university for 5 years, then work like a dog for another 30 years. I guess you want a big ride as soon as you graduate from high school!!! I challenge you to reply to this email with some other valid comment.

Hard work is hard work but not all those you think that working hard. Worked hard for all they had. Some things have to haunt people because some fortunes though built through hard work are built on a foundation of lies, deception, greed and thievery. When they taking $30,000 land as payment for a $500.00 case you think is work they work hard for all they had…

I agree with hardworkingdominican. When they get in trouble or their family get in trouble the first place they running is to Ma Dyer. Ma Dyer has to do her work, the police has to do their work and the jury has to do its work. Let the lady do her work

You are too foolish. When did the lawyer lie? When do lawyers lie. If you are the lawyer customer and you tell a lie to the lawyer the lawyer will repeat the lie because thats what you told them. How they know is lie. They have to follow what their client tell them

I guess you are not aware of the law: innocent until proven guilty- even if the defendant didn’t have a lawyer the court would APPOINT one for them. IT is the law of the land- but guess you do not read about these things. What about the soldier in Afghanistan who committted the crime – should he not be tried and YOU will personally sentence him?????

And? She not suppose to do her work. I pray that you or your family never find yourself in a difficult position when you will need a lawyer. I hope by that time they have not taken all the lawyers licences away
